  1. The Neanderthal article was interesting, can’t help but think of the people who take GH now look similar to the Neanderthals. Makes sense,GH causes bone growth so your facial structure changes-just like Neanderthals did! Thanks Mark:-)

  2. It doesn’t surprise me that a fifth of all Americans are online almost constantly. I know a few people who are on Facebook, alone, almost constantly.

    I don’t know how they manage it. After 45 minutes or so, unless I’m doing some research, I’m pretty well done online. Plus, my laptop is old and cranky. It overheats and shuts down. This automatically limits my computer time. I really need to replace it but haven’t felt like putting up with all the hassle; i.e., too many trade-offs and none that are a perfect fit.

    1. There’s always that one person who ‘likes’ every post you make within seconds of it going up. It’s a bit disconcerting.

  3. The article about people going vegetarian seems to assume that it will lead to weight loss, but that didn’t work out for me – way too many carbs. It certainly was not a healthy way to eat when I tried it. All those fake foods – yuk! (gluten-soy-corn mush processed to seem like meat).

  4. Interesting article about vegetarianism (and I used to be one). Searching online I found another study that concluded:

    “Importantly, we found no evidence for a causal role of vegetarian diet in the etiology of mental disorders. Rather, our results are more consistent with the view that the experience of a mental disorder increases the probability of choosing a vegetarian diet, or that psychological factors influence both the probability of choosing a vegetarian diet and the probability of developing a mental disorder.”

    1. That is interesting. I went full blown vegan after developing near crippling panic disorder. I thought it was the healthiest path I could choose. I only beat panic disorder by returning to my omnivorous roots and consuming seemingly absurd quantities of saturated fat and organ meats. Panic free and and an ideal weight.

    2. In agree. It’s correlation, not causation. Nearly all schizophrenics smoke cigarettes. But no one thinks cigarettes cause schizophrenia. Most recognize it for what it is…self medicating.

  5. About the mental health status of vegetarians and vegans: There may be other reasons than the diet. For one, more women go v/v than men, and women are much more prone to suffer from depression. This confounder could be eliminated by using the same number of men and women in the study, which wasn’t identified.

    Another possibility is that those who go on a v/v diet are already prone to being depressed. A self selection confounder.

    One thing I know for sure about the v’s, from both internet and personal experience, is that they are almost to a person, scientifically illiterate. And if the science is impossible to ignore, they just make up their own. “You can get all the B12 you need by eating organic root crops.” Stuff like that.

  6. For me personally, my severe anxiety seemed to intensify my need for self preservation. I wouldn’t do anything risky, and felt the sudden need live as healthily as possible. I was under the impression at the time that meat and fat were bad and a vegan/vegetarian diet was the best option.

    It didn’t work, my lipid profile worsened, my anxiety worsened, my weight ballooned, and I felt awful. Thankfully, through extensive reading and searching, I found the correct way for me to eat was to return to an omnivorous, fat friendly, diet. The only thing that really needed changing was to eliminate the refined sugars, seed oils, and excessive grains I ate prior to panic disorder.

    My mental health is now better than it has ever been. I don’t know what research supports this, but I am under the impression that diet has had a lot to do with my recovery.

Am I the ONLY one who, when exposed to cold temps (the worst is AC or “heat” – 70 degrees or less blowing on my head) I get “FATTER” and if sitting (like at work or in a class where we can’t move about) I can actually pass out from the cold? I know it’s the cold because I will get disoriented first – as with hypothermia – and then try to figure out what people are saying since I can no longer hear phrases, just words individually and then I pass out. I no longer allow myself to get like that if at all possible, if it does happen the next few days are like recovering from a car crash. I hear of people taking cold showers at the end of their warm one but if I do that I am chilled all day and unable to warm up. My thyroid seems to test out fine but maybe not?

  8. Can you tell me what the total carbs (as opposed to net carbs) are in the chocolate bars?

    Also, why the sugar when they already have stevia and luo han guo?

    Also, are you getting any feedback re stomach aches from the inulin?
