Smoked Salmon and Avocado Caesar Salad

Inline_CaesarPRIMAL KITCHEN® Caesar Dressing is everything you want in Caesar salad dressing—creamy and garlicky with a punch of lemon and pepper. It’s the perfect dressing for a simple bowl of crisp romaine lettuce, but if you want to take your Caesar salad to the next level, you’ll toss in more flavor and nutrients with smoked salmon, avocado, and kale.

This salad can be plated at home like a regular salad, or cleverly brought to work in a glass jar. Layering the dressing and ingredients in a jar stores everything neatly (no salad dressing leaks!) and keeps the salad crisp and fresh. When it’s lunchtime, just shake the salad into a bowl. The dressing will pour out on top of the greens, avocado and salmon, instantly making a Caesar salad your coworkers will envy.

Time in the Kitchen: 10 minutes

Servings: 2

  • ¼ cup PRIMAL KITCHEN® Caesar Dressing, or more to taste (60 ml)
  • 6 ounces smoked salmon, flaked (170 g)
  • 1 avocado, chopped
  • 2 handfuls baby kale leaves or chopped kale (stem removed) (56 g)
  • 2 handfuls chopped romaine lettuce hearts (56 g)

If making this salad in a bowl, simply toss the ingredients together and pour PRIMAL KITCHEN® Caesar Dressing on top.

If making this salad in a glass jar, pour the salad dressing in the bottom of a canning jar. (Use one large jar, or split the ingredients between two smaller jars)

Layer kale, romaine, avocado and smoked salmon in the jar, on top of the dressing.

Put the lid on the jar and store in the refrigerator. When ready to eat, take off the lid and shake the salad into a bowl.

  1. This salad is all my favorites rolled into one! I like to chop even the baby kale. I just find it easier to eat that way. And love the idea of ceaser on kale!

  2. This salad is right down my alley. I would make enough for the whole family and toss it in a big salad bowl. Love Caesar dressing.

  3. Just bought the 3-pack that contains the ceasar salad dressing. My husband bought one at the super market recently and it wasn’t good at all (plus, it had bad ingredients in it). I’m hoping to eat more salad now that I got this pack. Thx!

  4. I wish I could eat more salad…… My office is so cold and “windy” from the AC that all that “water” makes me cold….. Sigh, I love salad. but for that whole “I’m FREEZING and don’t wanna work cuz I need a nap” thing.
But this looks good, I may make it, leave it out and then eat it in my HOT car that I will leave in the sun… SCORE!!!

  5. Wow that looks so amazing. I love Salmon, however I am a huge Sashimi fan. I have been trying to live with a macrobiotic diet for about two years, which means as little pre-prepared food as possible, which means I avoid monosodium glutamate (MSG), maltodextrin and other flavor enhancing or preservative additives. This type of diet cuts down on caloric intake as well, I do not follow the what I eat so much, as long as its local and not out of a box. I also over estimate calories when I track them and this helps in two ways, one I get to my max quicker and know if I cheat I am probably OK, however, it discourages extra eating. The other is that I actually loose weight in a healthy way. Most companies when advertising calories do not include the total prepared calories and it is highly deceiving.
To combat the deception I over count calories by 50 to 100 depending on small or large count items. If its over 300 calories I add an extra 100 and under I add 50 and it greatly helps. Additionally, I work out on a TotalWave Fitness machine ( This helps me burn those extra calories and target muscles most people fail to think about. Especially the Obliques which are the love handles everyone abhors, but, conveniently leaves out of their routine. Obliques are hard to work on as there are few exercises and equipment short of skiing, snowboarding or some other natural exercise that is comfortable to perform. However, I do not have time to go skiing or snowboarding and definitely not three times a week. So the TotalWave and good dieting and awesome recipes along with portion control and overestimating calories are a full plan in my daily life.

  6. Yay! Excited to try the new Caesar dressing! I love Caesar salads, but stopped eating them when I cleaned up my diet due to the bad oils in most brands, and failed miserably at trying to make my own…lol..

  7. Tried this recipe for the first time today and it is very good…one of my favorites actually. The avocado and salmon went surprisingly well together. Can’t wait to try so more of your recipes

  10. None of these recipes list total fat, carbs or protein. That keeps me from trying as I track these items
