Meet Mark

Let me introduce myself. My name is Mark Sisson. I’m 63 years young. I live and work in Malibu, California. In a past life I was a professional marathoner and triathlete. Now my life goal is to help 100 million people get healthy. I started this blog in 2006 to empower people to take full responsibility for their own health and enjoyment of life by investigating, discussing, and critically rethinking everything we’ve assumed to be true about health and wellness...

Happy Thanksgiving

By Mark Sisson

Inline_Thanksgiving_BeachThe staff and I are off today to be with friends and family, but I wanted to take some time this morning to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving—whether you’re celebrating here in the States or checking in from around the globe.

From a personal point of view, I like beginning the holiday season with a time for thankfulness. The end of the year calls us to take stock, and it’s illuminating (and humbling) to do it in a spirit of gratitude.

I’m thankful for my wonderful family and supportive friends and colleagues. They know it, so I won’t linger.

I’m also grateful for this amazing community—the engagement, encouragement, and challenge you all have offered me over the years. Mark’s Daily Apple continues to be an evolving project. You are the engine of its evolution. My best ideas often come from satisfying a need one of you relay to me or my staff, and I’ve steered my blog, the books, events, products, and educational programs to reflect these ideas and to assist my readers. Thank you, everyone, and please continue to offer your feedback.

I hope you’re enjoying yourself today and have much to be grateful for this year, including good Primal health. Be well, and have a great holiday weekend.

Cheers, Mark

  1. Thank you Mark. I am so grateful for this beautiful life. As I am vacationing in the islands and enjoying the sunshine and beauty of ocean. Happy Thanksgiving!

    1. He can’t not have noticed, especially given that even if he had been avoiding the fora, forum users have been increasingly vociferous in these blog comments. It’s probably been deprioritized as an annoying problem to think about later while the Primal Blueprint empire grows to greater heights through other efforts. I’m sure most people who purchase Primal Kitchen products have never seen the blog, much less posted in or even read a forum. So, it’s easy to put off until another day.

But, your point is well made. Unless those fora are straightened out, the community around the blog will dissolve, and we’ll only be left with disconnected newcomers. That will undoubtedly have negative knock-on effects for the brand. Just two FTEs to manually monitor the things would be plenty until a strategic fix could be put in place.

  2. Happy Thanksgiving Mark and all MDA readers.
Mark – please get the forum fixed ?

  3. Happy Thanksgiving to all in the United States. I am Canadian and just arrived home after enjoying a week on the Gulf Coast of Texas (Galveston). I want to thank everyone for their hospitality and friendship. We had a wonderful time (as always!). God Bless

  4. Thank you, Mark! I read your blog every day and it has changed my life. Happy Thanksgiving from Norway!

  5. Happy Thanksgiving. I recently came back here to ask some questions on the forum. What happened? It’s an ungodly, spam hell. Every single section has maybe one real post on it’s front page. It was such a great resource to me when I first stumbled across the primal lifestyle. I hope you get it fixed soon.

  6. From an Englishman who doesn’t celebrate Thanksgiving, happy Thanksgiving!

  7. Happy Thanksgiving Mark. Loved having you on my podcast and I always enjoy reading your work. Here’s to a happy and healthy rest of the year!
