Fox News and Low-Carb Diet Talk

I was featured on Fox News 11 Los Angeles this morning as a health expert discussing the benefits of a low carb lifestyle. I’ve gotta say it was pretty fun. Any chance I can get to spread the word about living a healthy life is (almost) always a blast. After the interview I stuck around to answer viewer questions for an exclusive web cast. Links to the videos, and a preview of the questions I answered, are below. I’d love to hear what you think, so pop back on over with some comments after you’ve viewed the videos. Thanks, everyone!

Here’s a preview of some of the viewer questions:

  • When is the best time in the day to work out?
  • I was wondering if there is any way to go vegetarian. I want to go veggie but I don’t know how to go. Any ideas?
  • How long should we wait after eating a meal before working out?
  • I have a question regarding the low carb diet that I am on. I am craving sweets. I searched the shelves in local markets and there is nothing safe for me to have as a snack. Is there something that you can recommend?
  • I’m a broke college student. I lost 20 lbs by not eating fast food and drinking lots of water. However, even though I lost that weight I want to know a fast and effective way to lose my belly fat… What do you recommend?

  1. Mark, great job on the show! You articulated “the what” very well.

  2. Congrats on the making the news, way to go! Are you going to be a regular?

  3. Wow Mark on the news!!!!
I thought you did a great job! Keep spreading the healthy word Mark.
I will definitely stay away from those devilish CARBSSS!!!!!!

  4. That made my day. Way to go, Mark. Excellent job spreading the Primal good news!

  5. Nice work Mark. You dealt with the portion control question well – that’s the point at which it’s easy to start losing people. It was also good that the question of exercise was kept out of the conversation, as it’s another dimension to the issue that can erode the simplicity of the message for people to whom this is new.

  6. Only one suggestion for making the interview more effective: You should’ve done it topless! (Nuthin’ more convincing than a 6-pack.)

  7. Congratulations Mark!

Its good to see you in action! More videos would be great!

  8. Great Mark. Progress is being made just by your getting some air time. Excellent Q&A on the webcast.

  9. Thanks for the support. I’m glad everyone liked it. I’m all over any future opportunities to do more tv spots of this nature. If anyone has any leads feel free to send them my way. Thanks again!

  10. I live in Germany so none of my friends could possibly have seen the interview you gave, but I wish more low-carb proponents would start appearing on TV because to me it seems a tv appearance give much more credibility to the “message”
You really did sum up the issue very well!

  11. Mark, enjoyed watching the show. The only irony was the Taco Bell commercial at the beginning! They will probably ask Fox to move their commercial to another time slot with a less negating following show 😉

  12. Great job. I was really happy to see this, and I’ll be sharing it with friends and family. There must be something about the way I speak about primal fitness that is either too complicated or sounds like I’m trying to sell something, because I can’t seem to get other people onboard.

  13. Great interview Mark. I particularly liked how you explained insulin in a simple way so everyone can understand.

  14. Mark, I’m so happy to see you get the publicity you deserve. I’ve been a big fan of your site for a long time now and knew it was only a matter of time before your message caught on. Awesome work.

Move over Art….we got a new man in town!

  15. Mark, Its excellent your getting the word out and getting the publicity that you 100% deserve! Your site is excellent and your posts are of superb quality daily! Thanks very much…

  16. Yea you’re a natural Mark, very well spoken 🙂

Just wondering though, am I the only one who finds it a shame that it always focuses sooo damn much on the weight loss?

  17. echoing the masses but GREAT JOB MARK.

Ill bring you with me when I get invited to Oprah’s Couch.

  18. WOW Mark,
You’re “Awesome”! I hope to see you do more interviews, you really ARE the Nutrition Expert, JOB WELL DONE!!!

  19. Great interview Mark,it’s great to hear you say over and over it’s all about the insulin so many people need to understand that you explained it so well. And i was looking at your new pictures the one with your daughter at your birthday party you are RIPPED that’s awsome got to feel good.

  20. Thanks again, everyone, for the support. I was pleased with how it all came together. The insulin message needs to get out there.

See you on the couch, MizFit!

  21. Mark, I’ a big fan, daily lurker/first time poster and major beneficiary of your advice. A quick observation that I hope is useful. In the future I suspect you’ll have more opportunities for this type of interview and you are a natural. Going forward, you may want to have a quicker, more pithy “sound-byte” opening when people turn you loose on a subject. You have so much information to share you were like a race horse ready to burst out of the gate. A simple, memorable encapsulation of your major point that can be said with conviction is always a great way to lead off an interview. Here’s hoping you have many more to come. You are the perfect spokesman for a very important movement.

  22. Excellent interview.

You need to get on Oprah and enlighten Dr. Oz. I saw him recommend to a 50 year old women that was working out a lot but not losing weight, that she needed to get her heart rate up and go longer on the elliptical. That women will just get hungrier and eat even more. (My wife taped it. I don’t actually watch Oprah. Honest.)

  23. Hey Mark – I was just reading the inflammation blog from another day and it occurred to me that I’d heard somewhere that green tea was a great internal anti-inflammatory…any truth to that?

    I really love your site!
