Contest: Share Your Success Story

Weight lost, muscle built, complexions cleared, even meds kicked. You know who you are. You’ve gone Primal and you’re better off for it. Now’s the time to share it! This means you have the opportunity to show the rest of the community who you are and what you’ve accomplished. In the process you’ll inspire thousands of people to take control of their health just as you have. I don’t know about you, but I get a kick out of that.

So for today’s special contest I want to hear your story. Write it up and include a photo. Including both pre-Primal and post-Primal pics is even better, but not required. Don’t worry if you’re not a chiseled Adonis. This isn’t a “who’s the most ripped” contest. Whether you’ve lost 100 pounds over two years of Primal living or you’ve simply managed to kick that diet Coke habit, just tell me what going Primal has done for you. I’m looking for interesting and personal tales. Details about your health history, how you found MDA and the Primal Blueprint, what has worked and what hasn’t, what you eat, how you workout, what differences you’ve seen in how you look and feel, and anything else you think readers might be able to learn from and you’re open to sharing are welcome. It doesn’t have to be a thousand word diatribe, but hopefully more than a couple paragraphs. Feel free to be creative with your story format, too. Remember, good stories usually have a beginning, a middle, and an end, and honesty is king.

I’m sure many of you have thought about sending your story in, but just haven’t gotten around to it. There is no better time than now. I’ll be featuring reader stories right here on Mark’s Daily Apple every Friday as I have done for years, as long as you keep sending them in!

How to Submit Your Story

Email me your story along with any pictures. Please use the subject heading “My Primal Story.” Otherwise, there’s a good chance I may completely miss your submission.

  1. Good idea, Mark. There are probably quite a few formerly sick and/or overweight people who hang out here without commenting much, if at all. One poster indicated sort of offhand that she had lost over 100 pounds, which is a stellar achievement in anybody’s book. Get your stories out there, folks. It will help others.

    1. That might have been me. I’ve never submitted a success story because I definitely have 50 more lbs to go but I’m stalled out… need to get doing some sprints and things. Still, going from 5X to 1X and 2X in clothing is remarkable.

      1. I can vouch that the sprints once a week help a lot, and doing more “heavy lifting” training, with sets of 8-10 reps at a weight you can just handle in GOOD FORM, that is slow and controlled, no momentum “he-man” reps, and don’t ignore heavy leg work, i.e. one legged squats, dead lifts, whatever floats your boat – this will prime your metabolism.

        Doing more reps with a lighter weight will pump your muscles, but achieve almost nothing in terms of body composition changes – you will just get efficient at doing the same exercise at the same weight – start lifting heavy weights like a real man (just kidding).

        Also, ditch the long cardio sessions if your doing it, it is tempting to think it will help, but it will stall your efforts in their tracks.

        1. I’m just walking the dog at the moment. I had the martian death flu for almost two weeks and didn’t want to take it to the gym. I’m better now, though, and should get my groove on. XD

  2. Can’t wait to read! I, too, am hoping to read more about people who did it for health rather than weight loss (although those are incredibly inspiring to someone like me who needs to lose quite a bit more, too).

  3. Great idea! One of my goals is to be a success story. I have lost 20 lbs and have 10 more to go. I originally found MDA seeking solutions for metabolic arthritis. The primal blueprint is working but I keep falling off the wagon due to PRSS(primal resistant spouse syndrome). The last three weeks has been SAD and full of overindulgences. Therefore I have just committed to a 2nd 21day challenge through the Vimify app. The good news is I have turned back the clock and I’m in better shape now than I was a decade ago. I hope this Executive Summary will be worthy of a complete success story some day.

    What an unbelievable transformation.
    Hard to believe it’s just about eating fresh clean single ingredient food. This is what stumps a lot of people I have told about going Paleo/ Primal and the health benefits I have gained along with a 37 lbs weight loss over the last 8 months.
