Contest Results: Where in the World is Grok?

There are Groks all over the globe! Australia, Singapore, Germany, Canada, Austria, Ireland, Norway, India, Ukraine, Hungary, South Korea, Thailand, Portugal, Sweden and in numerous states across the beautiful U.S. of A. If you’re reading this there is a Grok in your hometown, too.

By the looks of these pictures it appears that I’m well on my way to achieving my life goal of helping 10 million or more people take control of their health. Help me toward my goal, and help others “get Primal” by telling them about Mark’s Daily Apple and the Primal Blueprint. I need all the help I can get! Grok on!

The winner of this contest, chosen randomly, is MDA reader Kyle from Seattle, WA. Congrats to Kyle and many thanks to everyone that participated.

About the Author

Mark Sisson is the founder of Mark’s Daily Apple, godfather to the Primal food and lifestyle movement, and the New York Times bestselling author of The Keto Reset Diet. His latest book is Keto for Life, where he discusses how he combines the keto diet with a Primal lifestyle for optimal health and longevity. Mark is the author of numerous other books as well, including The Primal Blueprint, which was credited with turbocharging the growth of the primal/paleo movement back in 2009. After spending three decades researching and educating folks on why food is the key component to achieving and maintaining optimal wellness, Mark launched Primal Kitchen, a real-food company that creates Primal/paleo, keto, and Whole30-friendly kitchen staples.

  1. I wish I had the presence of thought to enter this contest. I am an avid hiker and spelunker – and yes, I do both in my Five Fingers. Where in the world is Grok? In my case, often crawling around in the bowels of the earth!

  2. This is fun. Wish I hadn’t dropped my camera in the river before these challenges began:P

  3. My “Grok is in Houston” taken on my camoflage backpack in my stuffy cubicle was just sad…

  4. Man! I wish I had remembered to enter this one.

I have to say though, the cactus in Tuscon made me laugh. 🙂

    1. I wonder how many primal enthusiasts are in Tucson. I’m the only one I know of so far!

      1. I know this is quite late, but nope your not the only one in tucson! ben primal for over a year now and loving it!

  5. It’s nice to know that Grok, and by extension fellow primalites, are so widespread. It’s like having friends all over the world! It also makes me think that there must be others interested in living primally in my area, I just have to hunt them down 🙂

  6. I always thought it would be cool to get a bunch of groks together once a month or something for a potluck bonfire. I lived on the beach in Santa Cruz, Ca and thought that would be pretty awesome. Now I’m not far away in San Jose, and would still drive to the beach, or hike somewhere in the mountains to do something like this. I’ve gotta watch those grok tags go by for other people in my area.

  7. Seeing all these pictures makes me realize what a huge primal community I am a part of.

  8. Really beautiful & diverse backgrounds! What a creative tribe/clan of Groks & Grokettes!

  9. So cool to see Grok in so many places and it’s really encouraging to me to know that there are so many others that strive to be as healthy, vibrant, and happy as they can be. We have to continue to spread the word so that others can experience what we do!! Grok On!

  10. Glad to see my home state of Louisiana represented. You don’t get much more primal than boiled crawfish.

  11. Wow, there were some pretty exotic places in there! I have to say, I though there’d be more San Diego Groks!…

  12. Sorry I missed out on this one but glad to see Portland, OR represent! 🙂

  13. Baltimore Grok, where did you take your picture? It looks too wild to be Druid Hill Park…

  14. Mark,
You will know you really succeeded when you get this entry in the next contest (forgive my laughable photoshopping skills):

  15. I can’t decide if I’m more excited that Grok is in Philly, or that Grok has spanned the globe…I guess humans will always be a supremely adaptable species 😉

  16. Grok has visited so many state capitol buildings! Grok on Pierre, Jefferson City, and Sacramento from Salem and the Big Gold Dude! (And honorable mention to Austin, which doesn’t picture the capitol.) Did I miss any? Grok for state senate!

  17. I was really looking forward to seeing all the photos from this contest. Wow, I am not disappointed. How fun.

  18. Kind of like Santa, Grok travels around the world FAST. Unlike Santa, Grok is lean and not hampered by a bowl fully of jelly, because he eats primally. Grok will bring children really good things to eat, not stockings full of highly processed candy.

  19. Just reiterates how adaptable we are as hominids. Just read an article on the continued evolution of us. Basically, the evolution happens amongst the most disparate groups across the globe (basically, the few hunter-gatherers remaining). However, because those groups are so few and far between and the rest of us regularly intermingle, the evolution of distinct mutations won’t likely result in any new hominid species or sub species anytime soon. So we, H. sapiens sapiens will continue to be the lone race of humans on Earth for the foreseeable future. Unless we do something crazy, like nuke ourselves into oblivion or continue with unsustainable agriculture and ecosystem destruction.

  20. I like all the pictures of Grok on the hunt. The geese, chickens, and dinosaurs all seem to be perfect primal choices.

  21. So many people from so many places brought together to form one Primal family… Just one of those things that makes you appreciate the modern world while looking back to our roots for inspiration.

  22. This is absolutely beautiful…just goes to show you how we are all united no matter where we are on this planet. Groks UNITED!!!

  23. Where in the world is Grok?
He’s on the run from Dallas Texas to New York City, to stop him now would be a pity. Grok On!

  24. We’re all *over* the place! I’m already looking forward to a Paleo Meet-up in my city in a week and a half.

  25. No way! Kalmar, Sweden! I’m baptised (although not a believer today) in the church of that castle and lived in the city my whole life.

It appears MDA has reached more than one reader in the better corners of Sweden… Love it!

  26. Lots of fun – my favorite contest so far. Really makes us feel part of a worldwide community. Wicklow, Ireland (Cill Mhantain) represent!

  27. About the 10 million people…any idea how many have been reached so far? Maybe we could do a world wide roll call or get assigned numbers…”I’m Grokette 432,157.” And the 10th millionth person wins a life time supply of sardines or something. 🙂

  28. Wow Easton, PA I am very close too!! So wish I was around when this contest happened I could have a nice snapshot on the Appalachian Trail here in PA. Very cool to see all the international presence!!

    1. Easton PA in the house! When I went through the slide show I just had a huge smile on my face seeing all the locations and it gave me the goosebumps knowing so many people in the world are trying to change their lives and live better! GROK ON PEOPLE!!!

  29. This is very inspiring. Seeing that there are people across the globe that Mark has reached with our help is just incredible. This community continues to grow and will never stop!

Seeing people take control of their own health is a pleasant site.

Anyone else in Grand Rapids, MI??!?!?

  30. I dont know if there are others but I am from Brasília, Brasil. Someone??

  31. There are at least a few in Trinidad and Tobago, West Indies. I’m just posting on their behalf.
