Contest Poll: The 2013 Grokfeast Challenge

Contest PollI’d like to thank the seven groups who participated in the Grokfeast Challenge this year. Your level of creativity, commitment, and enthusiasm serves as a hallmark for Primal living at its best. It’s been an immense pleasure reading and publishing your experiences on Mark’s Daily Apple.

As good as they all were (seriously, again, great job, everyone), only one group can win the cow. One more shout out to US Wellness, who is donating all the grass-fed beef. If you ever want to take your beef eating to the next level, hit up their newsletter and join the grass-fed revolution.

OK, now on to business. Watch the finalist videos below and then make your vote count. This poll will close and a winner will be announced at 4 pm PDT, Friday, October 4.

UPDATE: This poll is closed, and the winner is Grokfeast in Chicago. Congrats to all the Groks in Chicago, and thanks to everyone for voting!

Sorry, there are no polls available at the moment.

  1. I wish I could have voted for both of you. What a tough choice! Both days looked really fun. Excellent work!

    1. Thanks Cherie, I also wanted to vote for both! A lot of heart went into it for sure.

    2. Oh! And congratulations are in order on your win. 🙂 You had my vote!

      1. Thank you!!!! That is so nice! I was very nervous about putting myself “out there” like that. It is outside my comfort zone. I am afraid to report the wine drinking was not faked. It was needed. 🙂

        1. Oh…. and I voted Nashville. I didn’t know that was you until I read the other comments. Yay!

        2. I hear you sister, it’s like walking into a crowded room buck naked. Thanks for you vote!

  2. These videos are awesome; looking forward to the results tomorrow!

(Thank you for everyone voting for CHICAGO) !!!

      1. KatieCHI – Come back for Thanksgiving week! That is when I will be back to enjoy good times with good people.

  3. Both videos were great, and I enjoyed seeing the fun and food (especially the food).

However, the one takeaway I got from watching, was that Lynette is a super cutie!

    1. Gah! You got me again! I was about to write “I’m not sure who Zach is, but…” You’re so going to make that nickname stick aren’t you? 😛 hehe

  4. Hey!!!The farm in the Chicago video is where I get my meat..Great place

  5. I have to vote for Nashville….Although the one from Chicago gave a new spin on “makin bacon”. (View the pigs at the beginning) It was a virtual tie until I saw someone in the Chicago video use a smartphone…not too paleo..

    1. Um… neither is a video camera! However, I understand your dilemma– I really couldn’t choose between these two either, so I’m just not voting. But I thoroughly enjoyed both! Great job, everyone!

  6. The best news of all is that regardless of who wins the challenge, this primal lifestyle we all love so much has received new recognition, respect, and some added exposure. That is the true win here. This tribe, headed by mark, is revolutionary and I am proud to be a part of it!

  7. I thought both videos were great, but I voted for Nashville because 1) everyone has a backyard or a nearby park to host their own grokfest, and so their example (and direct messages) were inspiring; Chicago looked fun, but not everyone has access to a farm and so it didn’t resonate as well with me; 2) Nashville shared the primal lifestyle with new people; Chicago seemed only to have primal “veterans” 3) Nashville pretty much had me with the opening bike ride to hand deliver the invitations; I was a little put off in the Chicago video by the person on their smartphone in the midst of this beautiful farm; 4) I wish I had neighbors like the people in Nashville!

    1. Agreed, also, Chicago showed people feasting, but hardly a glimpse of the feast…half of the point of these vids is to show the food!
Liked the nashville stile with the signs, the message to not wait until everything is perfect, and, fire, because why not 🙂 Oh, and the food!

loved the music in both video’s, btw

      1. thanks to you both. i am glad the primal points we were trying to convey came through. 🙂

    1. thanks captain, we have a middle school soccer field just down the road that will be seeing some ultimate action this weekend!

  8. Both were great, but I chose Nashville on the basis of imagining showing this to non-primal friends – I don’t think there would be much explanation required about the lifestyle or how to implement it. Well done!

    1. I agree- both were good –
      but Nashville showed primal life

where’s Chi-town showed a trip to a rural farm with a picnic after.

  9. Both of these videos were great. Thanks for working to promote a healthy lifestyle. Now I want to visit both Chicago & Nashville.

    1. If you do come on out to Chicago be sure to let us know! You’re always welcome to our Paleo Chicago events, you and anyone else visiting for that matter 🙂

You can find the meetup group and what we’re all up to here:

  10. Good job on both videos. Well done. For some reason the Nashville video just made me feel good. +1!

  11. Amazing video. I loved it. Congratulations to Chicago Paleo from Panama 🙂

  12. I think they are both great, but I feel like Nashville should win by a long shot considering the creativity of making everything primal. They rode their bikes and hand delivered invitations, played games outside with friends, had an amazing spread of food and spent time by the fire. It felt very primal and friendly.

  13. Congratulations Chicago! Proud to be a fellow grok. And thank you, Mark, for the opportunity. This community rocks!

  14. These were awesome!! I loved them both, but had to vote Nashville because they pulled at my heart strings. For some reason I was so touched by the beauty of the community, and the meaningful hand-written invites and messages at the beginning. 🙂
