Weekend Link Love – Edition 159

On taking antibiotics, Martin Blaser of New York University’s Langone Medical Center says, “Early evidence from my lab and others hints that, sometimes, our friendly flora never fully recover.” (emphasis mine) Read the rest over at Wired.

Turns out humans interbred with more than just Neanderthals.

Science Daily reports on the advantages of heavy chocolate consumption and high-intensity exercise. Though they didn’t specify what would happen if you tried to do both at the same time.

And, the trouble with tribbles.

Imagine you’re George Clooney. Take a moment to admire your grooming and wit. Okay, now imagine someone walks up to you and asks, “What’s your name?” You say, “I’m George Clooney.” Or maybe you say, “I’m the Clooninator!” You don’t say “I’m George of George Clooney Sells Movies Blog” and you certainly don’t say, “I’m Clooney Weight Loss Plan”. So while spam is technically meat, it ain’t anywhere near Primal. Please nickname yourself something your friends would call you.

  1. Love the antibiotic article and of course, the CHOCOLATE article. Have you ever tried making coconut oil based chocolate!! INCREDIBLE CHOCOLATE MADE IN A FEW MINUTES: Heat your coconut oil with some raw cacao or straight cocoa and add stevia. Then put it in the freezer. Depending on the shape of the container you will have a truffle or a flat piece of chocolate of a fudge cup. It takes about 5 minutes to solidify, probably max. Or heat it and put it over cold unsweetened coconut based ice cream and it becomes a hard coat. YUM>

  2. i love the beating Dr. Jamplois took in the comments section on that CNN Health article on Paleo. Way to go Paleo/Primal for giving great science/logic based rebuttals! Maybe people who read the article will think twice before following her advice!
