The first time I saw those Uncrustables I said, "Sounds too much like 'untrustable' for me!"

I just googled to see if I could find the nutritional info for them and found this link to replicate them at home, which I thought was a joke at first because it's basically directions for making a PBJ and cutting off the crust.

http://www.kidskuisine.com/?p=155

Google also reveals that these abominations are being served in public schools. Isn't it cheaper for schools to just make 'em the old fashioned way? Or perhaps Smuckers cuts them a deal in exchange for getting grade schoolers hooked on them?

And to slightly tangent here, what is with kids not wanting the crust? Even as a child I questioned this because the crust is the SAME THING as the rest of the bread. And what is with parents allowing their kids to reject perfectly good (well, not really *good*) food that is exactly the same as what they do deign to eat? I can't imagine my parents allowing me to toss out part of a sandwich because I decided I just didn't like *that* part even though it was the same as the rest of the bread. The idea of them pandering to the extent that they would buy pre-made processed PBJ sandwiches with the crusts cut off is downright hilarious.

Sonagi, too funny, I was going to post a link to the Uncrustables site in my last comment. Since when is life supposed to be so busy we can't make a sandwich with two ingredients? Ten bucks for refined sugar and some cheese...it's such cheap food, you'd expect the price to be much less, no?

You forgot to mention the best part - that plate of grilled cheese, tater tots, and corn will set a parent back almost ten dollars! For that princely sum, you could buy enough groceries for a week's worth of lunches. I couldn't believe it when those Uncrustables first came out. Are there people so lazy that they cannot spend even two minutes assembling a sandwich? And what's wrong with kids making their own lunches?
