Tasha’s Goals: “I’ve been primal since July of 2011, but haven’t managed to keep myself on track (I keep giving in to the lure of baked goods & other sugary treats as well as beers and pizza). I am starting off 2012 with a Whole30 to try and root out potential food allergies & sensitivities, and keep myself primal and honest. I’ve always been a pretty slender person, but never had any practical strength to move freely, lift myself up, and run about like the crazy person that I am. Going primal helped a lot with my general lethargy and it introduced me to the world of treating anxiety & depression with supplements, which has given me the most benefits after years of struggling with medications.
This picture is from August of 2011. I would really like to build some muscle definition and practical strength this year (which means I should gain weight too). By my birthday in June, I want to be able to do at least one pull-up (buying a pull-up bar at the end of the Whole30) and 5 “real” (no knees assisting) push-ups. Right now I can do 0 pull-ups and 7 knees-assisted push-ups before collapsing! I will definitely add more goals after June 18th. I would like to complete two Whole30s this year if I am not eating 100% primal after the first one!”
Update – 06/18/2012: “My new photo is from June 18 this year, my birthday! I’ve lost the amount of body fat that I wanted to lose, basically back to my body-type from college. I feel really good. I haven’t caught any illnesses in I don’t even know how long! My fitness goals are much the same and I haven’t made a lot of progress. I had some set-backs this year with a lot of personal stress and stopped trying to exercise for a while. I just recently had my bike tuned up so I’m going to be riding it a few times a week after work to start with, as well as my regular body-weight exercises. I still want to be able to do a pull-up by the end of the year! I can’t yet do a regular push-up and as it turns out, I wasn’t doing assisted push-ups properly, so I’m only at 2
I completed a Whole30 in January and am doing another for August to curb the wheat/sugar snacking I am prone to (though I am more like 95% compliant nowadays). I’m still using supplements from time to time to manage my depression and anxiety, but mostly, I’m just managing on my own. I’m really happy with the progress I’ve made so far and am looking forward to checking in later in the year. I hope to report that I am able to ride my bike to and from work (7 miles round-trip) when weather allows before it gets cold!
