Well I had never had a weight problem in my life before and had always been a very active person. Only when I first fell pregnant, I had a miscarriage after the first 9 weeks, and I started picking up weight. I was clearly going through some emotional stress and the miscarriage had made me so scared to carry on exercising, especially when I fell pregnant again.

I put on a lot of weight with my first son (27-29 kgs) and then tried to lose as much as I could before I fell pregnant again with my daughter, but I had not lost nearly enough and then I gained a few with her too. I was sitting on 76 kgs two months after she was born. I really battled to lose the weight after that; I almost felt like my whole body had changed from pregnancy, as even months after my daughter was born I really battled to shed any of the weight. I breastfed exclusively for the first five and a half months and never dropped even 1 kg!!!

Paleo Girl: The Evolution of a Yo-Yo Dieter

My story isn’t entirely unique or the most profound physical transformation you’ll ever see; and it’s not strictly a tale of finding the right diet, shedding some pounds, and living happily ever after. In addition to finding my version of wellness, this journey was one of self-discovery, finding purpose, and embracing self-love.

When I was in high school, I started my tumultuous affair with yo-yo dieting. I didn’t know the first thing about nutrition and certainly had never considered what my health or fitness goals were—but there I was starving myself, popping diet pills, and hitting the gym. If I really sit and think about it now, I realize I was only going through those motions because I had naively given my high school boyfriend too much control over my life. He was the original yo-yo dieter.

Hi, my name is Lauren and I’m a fourteen-year-old Primal teen. My mom switched to the Primal lifestyle a year and a half ago after reading The Primal Blueprint. I decided to try it with her, not for weight reasons (I’m 5’8” and 120 lbs) but to help with some annoying acne issues and to try to be stronger and healthier.

Since about fourth grade (I’m in eighth now) I have missed around twenty-five days of school each year from colds, ear infections and other minor infections. What should have been little illnesses somehow put me in bed for a week at a time. I ride five days a week, give riding lessons to younger kids, and show once or twice a month, so I was missing things that I love to do and always ended up feeling weak. I also had these small clusters of annoying pimples that wouldn’t go away, no matter how much I washed my face or used drying lotions.

Like most, I grew up playing sports in high school. I ate a “healthy,” low-fat SAD diet. Junk food was never allowed in the house. My only exposure to junk food was at friend’s houses. The closest I ate to cookies were graham crackers. Chips? No, we had dry saltine crackers.

I think my mom’s theory was, if it doesn’t taste too good, it can’t be that bad for you. She really tried. The first time my sister ate a cupcake she ate the wrapper not knowing it was there! You can’t make that kind of stuff up.

As a kid, I ALWAYS had stuffy sinuses and sore throats. I would develop bronchitis three to four times a year. To get to the bottom of it, an allergy test was performed. The results showed I was sensitive to dust mites (they live on everything, including us), cats, and dogs. We had all three.

How I Lost 40 Pounds and Banished Rosacea Using Primal Principles

Like many others who’ve jumped on the Paleo/Primal eating concept, I didn’t quite start following the regimen for weight loss. My issues stemmed from the life halting condition (which I believe to be an autoimmune condition) rosacea. For those who aren’t familiar with the condition, rosacea is an inflammatory skin disease known to have an effect on facial flushing and redness. In my case, it got to be pretty bad. Now to most people, including family and friends, this wasn’t such a big deal. So I had a bit of redness going on in my face… so what? Everyone flushes from time to time. But for me, it was an incredibly life halting experience that, for the time I had it, completely derailed my entire life.

After just two months it may be a little soon to be sending you one of these, but I just had to share.

I am a 30 year old police officer in FL. Ever since middle school I have been the fat kid. No matter how hard I tried the conventional way, I could not lose any weight and just kept getting heavier. Even the police academy only helped a little and as soon as it was over, the weight started piling back on (long hours of sitting and fast food). While I knew that I was overweight, I still didn’t worry too much about it because I was always the healthy one in my family. My immediate family is plagued with diabetes, thyroid issues, chronic asthma and allergies, rheumatoid arthritis, obesity, IBS… like I said, I was the healthy one.
