David, nutritional yeast flakes are a good source of B-12. You can buy it in bulk at most health food stores.

I sprinkle it on veggies and meatballs with marinara sauce. I don't eat dairy products, so I use it instead of parmesan cheese.

Aside from liver and shell fish, are B12 supplements of any value? Isolated nutrients of any kind seem to fall short of the "real thing" found in food...

Chopped liver was a favorite in my grandmother's house; it's similar to the pate described above. Unfortunately most of us were scared away from eating it after the early 80's because of the cholesterol. I need to find a good Jewish deli.

Liver pate can be tasty, especially if you put in enough extra stuff to camouflage the liver flavor. Boil the liver and then mix in a processor with raw onion, softened butter and seasonings to taste. To tone down the flavor, throw in a hard boiled egg or two. Since going primal, I've eaten it as a dip or spread on cucumbers, bell peppers and lettuce leaves.

Every time I read an article like this, I wonder how many more "senior moments" I'd be having if I didn't exercise and eat well! I'd probably be ready for the nursing home by now.

I haven't had liver in ages; now I want some! Sorry, Rodney, I've only ever had it fried with onions.

Ok, so who has a few good suggestions for preparing liver? While I don't HATE it, I definitely don't enjoy the flavor or even the texture. Other than the old standby of fried liver with onions, what else can I do to make it more palatable??

The Australia study is interesting because it highlights the difficulty in knowing what causes improvements in studies like these. It is likely the subjects in the walking group were exposed to more novel stimuli when out on their walks than those in the control group, who remained in more familiar surroundings. The additional stimuli could have been wholly or partly responsible for the cognitive improvements.

It would have been good to include a third group who were also taken out on the same walks, but confined to wheelchairs, thus controlling for the additional stimuli.
