In the Making - 05/09/12

Age: 32

Rob’s Goal: “I’ve been skinny my whole life, due to regular cardio-based activities such as Football and Basketball throughout my high-school years and 20′s. Now I’ve passed the big 3-0, I’m starting to think about my long term health, and seeing the increasing waistlines and tired faces of many of the people I grew up with, together with pockets of body fat and a lack of vitality encroaching on my own body, I feel now is the time to act. 8 years of an enjoyable yet highly stressful and all-consuming job in management has left me fatigued, ground down and desperately needing an injection of Mojo! So 2012 is the year of change. Having quit my job in October 2011, I moved 12,000 miles, along with my fantastic girlfriend Jo, to Australia from the UK and am going Primal with all guns blazing. I don’t want to be skinny and exhausted any more, I want muscles, vitality and to love life every minute of every day. Together with Jo, we will achieve our goals this year, then turn our attentions to converting our friends and families.

Goal: To put on 15-20lbs of lean muscle, improve strength and feel great all the time.”

Update – 05/09/12: “4 months in and feeling great! I’ve kept to a steady 80/20 on the eating and have been exercising pretty consistently with LHT and low-level cardio. Could probably do more sprinting if I’m honest, I’ve neglected that element a little. That’s a clear focus area to improve over the next few weeks. I’m currently at my heaviest ever weight of 152lb, up 8lb since starting out, so I’m really happy about that. Most of it seems to be muscle too, with a little bit of extra body fat. I’m not worried, gonna keep focussing on adding muscle primarily (and Primally!), I know my body composition is improving for the better. The hardest part for me is eating enough to grow on a daily basis. Primal foods are so filling that I’m stuffed on 1500-1800 calories a day. trying to get to 3000 is a massive struggle which I fail with most days, even if I polish off a full bar of Green & Blacks 85% in a day. Which I do regularly. Not ideal, but we all have vices! Overall I’m loving this lifestyle and am happy with the results so far. Looking forward to seeing what the next few months bring!”
