Mark,

I am doing p90x. After day 60, around same time after discovering primal blueprint, i cut down my p90x workout in half, i.e 24 sets to 12 intense sets removing workout where i did not feel the intensity.
i do abs only twice rather than thrice. Similar eating plan but no carbs like pb style but consume fat instead. increased veggie intake. omega3,vitamins etc.
Do u think it is optimal for muscle gain? or am i doing less. Its been about 75 days and i got a good strength increase but no difference in size. I do not have access to bench press or barbell or gym at the moment.
I am 5' 6" weigh in at a poor 120 lbs.
accumeasure measures arnd 13-14 mm.

Thanks to Apurva for bringing this up.
I know its really difficult in India, i grew up eating grains, for about 8 important years(adolescence) of my life
i have predominantly been a vegetarian.

Hi Mark

Probably one of the most informative sites I have seen.

Are you really friends with Tony Horton? His P90X workout changed my life.

Are you a <a href="http://www.milliondollarbody.com/signup/coach/index.htm?type=coach&MDB_SKU=MDINSCKK2&username=wrkoutjorney" rel="nofollow">Beachbody Coach</a>?

I did not see anywhere on your site where it says you are. Thought it would be a good way to track the people you help.

Anyways, I'll be back here again.

Thanks

140, 160, 200 grams of protein a day? Do you think there was that much protein (mostly animal protein) to support that type of protein intake for our ancestors?

Great job--congrats!! My story is almost a complete duplicate of yours--found Mark, then Devany, big salad bowl, lost 36 pounds. I still have a way to go before I have to worry about being ripped. I don't have any nekkid "before" pictures but I'll put something up eventually that will show the transition. Some other random comments:

1. I've watched the P90X videos. It's some hard core stuff. I do believe if you do everything as prescribed they can go a long way towards achieving your goals.

2. Mark - you mentioned in the post that you do your weight training "to failure." What's your feeling about that in contrast to Art's suggestion not to do so? And unless I've missed it, I'd sure like to see details on exactly what you do in the gym. Hard to argue with that photo in the abs post! :-)

3. Totally different subject. It seems it was around 15-17 years ago that I needed to use "gopher" so I bought a book that was labeled as the "internet bible" at that time. Around Chapter 8 or so there was a mention of this up and coming thing known as the World Wide Web. I'm just floored by how you were able to make such an impact on a person that you have never met living half way around the world. Amazing!

Thanks for featuring me on your blog Mark. And thanks all the more for your wonderful suggestions!

I think the hardest part will be to totally cut out refined carbs and sugars for 45 days. But it is not impossible and I am confident of mustering the discipline I need to achieve that goal.

I am also intrigued by the p90x fitness system and am considering trying it out, even though I am generally skeptical of anything promising such magical results in just 90 days. Your stadium steps recommendation is also very do-able and I am going to start on that right away!

I will be in a state of complete flux for the next 3 months since I will be shifting my residence and starting anew on a totally different continent (From South Asia to North America). So that makes it doubly hard to make the push that I need right now. Nonetheless, I promise to share my experience with you guys as and when I implement the suggestions and have observable results.

Thanks once more!

Apruva you are doing great. Now is the hardest time for you because it's easy to become discouraged when progress slows and the really hard work begins. Don't stop, you are well on your way.

Mark's advise to you is spot on in my experience. Hard strength training using heavy weights and "big" movements - squats, bench press, dead lifts, dips, pullups, two to three times per week with some intense cardio mixed in. Then cut the processed foods - especially the carbs.

Please post again in the future and let us know how you are doing.
