Mark’s Daily Apple iPhone App Now Available

Just a quick announcement before today’s regularly scheduled blog post… Mark’s Daily Apple now has an iPhone app! Mark’s Daily Apple blog posts, YouTube videos and Twitter tweets are all packed into this app.

This app also has a geo-tagged “ChatWall” feature that allows users to communicate with other users in their area. Looking for some Ultimate Frisbee partners or planning a Primal dinner party meet-up? Throw up a comment on the ChatWall and connect with Groks in your own hometown.

This app (just like the Android version) is free. You can learn more here.

Here are few screenshots from the app.

Imagine you’re George Clooney. Take a moment to admire your grooming and wit. Okay, now imagine someone walks up to you and asks, “What’s your name?” You say, “I’m George Clooney.” Or maybe you say, “I’m the Clooninator!” You don’t say “I’m George of George Clooney Sells Movies Blog” and you certainly don’t say, “I’m Clooney Weight Loss Plan”. So while spam is technically meat, it ain’t anywhere near Primal. Please nickname yourself something your friends would call you.

  1. YES! Finally! *goes to iTunes*

  10. Anyone else having trouble opening the app? Mine opens to the welcome screen and crashes.

Trevor Smith wrote on June 29th, 2010
    • It’s been tested on numerous phones without crashing problems. Maybe restart your phone?

Mark Sisson wrote on June 29th, 2010
      • I’ve restarted and reinstalled more than once. I’ll play with it some more when I get home. I’m on iPhone 4 if that helps.

Great to see an app, though. What’s a guy gotta do for a search function?

Thanks for all you do, Mark.

      • It does, like all other iPhone apps. But, it would be nice to have a version specifically designed for large iPad screen.

  18. Nice app. I’m not seeing a way to search blog posts in the MDA section. This would be pretty helpful, as well as the various archive listings you have on the main site.

  19. About time. I’ve been waiting on this for a while. Now I can get my fix anywhere.

Matt wrote on June 29th, 2010
  20. Is anyone else having problems with the font size? It is so large that I have to constantly scroll side to side as well as top to bottom to read. That is my only complaint and I really DO like having this on my iPhone and iPad. Am I missing a fix? I have tried to pinch the size and have looked for a font size adjuster. Any help would be appreciated.

Karla wrote on June 29th, 2010
    • I had the same problem, on an iPhone 3gs running iOS 4. I also found trying to follow external links pretty frustrating — clicking one always seemed to launch an extremely limited browser with none of the standard scrolling/scaling features.

I gave up using the app, at least till the next version comes out. (sigh)

Ellen wrote on July 7th, 2010
  21. Downloaded and installed! Thanks for the app. No crashes so far and font size seems fine to me…no scrolling left to right.

This is awesome! I have been addicted to your blog since I found it. By the way, great book also! I got it on my kindle a few weeks ago. Don’t you just love technology?

  33. This is way too awesome. The iPhone and iPad has been in the back of my mind for a while now. As soon as i have the funds I am getting either or… maybe both eventually.

    My first app will be….

Mark’s Daily Apple. Thanks for making it for free Mark. You are the best!

  34. Nice app but crashes a LOT. I have restarted a bunch of times which seems to help for a bit then the crashing starts again.

  35. Downloaded it to my ipod touch. Awesome. Any chance of being able to bring up recipes in the app for shopping and cooking? Is it just me or is a twitter account required to post comments on the app? Not a deal breaker I just couldn’t see anyway to post otherwise.

  37. Love the app. Working smoothly for me. Only comment is the same as the font size issue mentioned above. Also if it could change orientation when you turn the device that would be awesome. Please keep that in mind for future updates.

  38. Love the app!! DL’d it for my iPhone & iPad! The only issue is the font size; it is HUGE! You have to scroll side to side (even on the iPad) to read anything!
Can’t wait to see the results in 1 month from this change in lifestyle.
    THANKS Mark!!
