In the Making – 09/12/12

Age: 27

Luisa Goals: “I went primal in late October, had a few planned cheats at Christmas, and am now eager to get going for the new year. What I’ve done so far has already cleared up a lot of issues I had, such as an injury I thought might be around for the rest of my life, and now I want to start lifting weights and see where that takes me. My other goal is to get my sleep at regular hours and not give into the computer!”

Update – 09/12/12: “I have been pretty consistent all year with my eating, and even with mostly just hiking for exercise (finally did get a kettlebell) and quite a bit of ice cream and chocolate, I have lost 5 dress sizes and several dozen pounds. It’s really fascinating getting so in touch with my body, especially realizing that my lifelong disordered eating was due to WHEAT, but I have to say what surprises me most is the effect on my attitude and mood. It’s not just that it’s easier to be positive and resilient, it’s that even in some really difficult times I have kept on feeling happy and looking forward to each day and often feeling full of energy and physically bouncy even when sad. I plan to lose another 60 pounds at least, but I am not pushing it. I just focus on eating enough nutrition and getting enough rest and exercise and the weight keeps coming off.”
