Lisa’s Goals: “I am sharing two photo’s today because I’ve already come many miles on this journey I started about a year ago. The first picture was in 2010, before I read the books, did the research, changed my eating habits and I was sick, sick, sick all the time weighing 208 lbs. The next picture was taken a year later, it’s just a head shot, but serves as a good reminder of why I want to be healthy. It was taken of me with my newest grandchild. I’d lost 38 lbs during the year by eating primal foods, and concentrating on improving health markers without pharmaceuticals. I was able to ditch all but my thyroid meds over the course of that year. Oh, and did I mention I’ve not been sick since doing this? Nor do I get the constant headaches, IBS, joint pain or skin rashes that have plagued me for 20 years.
My goal this year is to continue to lose the excess weight by eating the right foods, primal style. I don’t have my head set on a specific number on a scale, as long as the trend is downward I know I am healthier. I am also getting stronger. My inner cavewoman is telling me to climb, push, pull and lift heavy things. I’m finally done with all wheat products, because I’ve learned over the course of the last year, that it hurts me. I live in the Pacific Northwest and we have some great hiking, biking, swimming and rafting places, all of which I will be doing over the next year. This summer I’ll let the camera capture me in a pair of shorts. My fervent desire is that when I see that picture, it doesn’t make me wince, perhaps a smile instead.”
