With strong sales of the original hardcover Primal Blueprint book over the past three years, I was honored by a request from mainstream retailers (Amazon , Barnes & Noble , etc.) to produce the Primal Blueprint in paperback. Piece of cake, right? Get rid of those couple annoying typos, edit a bit here and there, then fire up the presses, right? Not quite. In the past few years, plenty has happened to further shape and refine the Primal philosophy. Much of this progress has come from the amazing contribution of the Primal/paleo/evolutionary health community: lively commenting and blogging on the Internet, and the magic of live connections at presentations and conventions. The movement has exploded beyond my wildest dreams and continues to pick up momentum daily.
I took advantage of this paperback opportunity to carefully review the original work (really enjoyed the read – 5 stars!) and all the feedback we received about it. I’ve refined and clarified the Primal philosophy on stuff such as fruit (exercise more moderation and selectivity on today’s year-round supply of overly-cultivated offerings), macadamia nuts (ranked superior to other nuts and seeds due to unfavorable omega-6:omega-3 ratios among other nuts and seeds), the Primal Essential Movements (adding a practical element to the “Lift Heavy Things” lifestyle law) and much more. I carefully edited and reworded certain sections to improve readability. I also included some really cool bonus material, including an incredible full-color, 16-page insert of seven of our favorite success stories and their stunning before/after photos: Malika Duke , Nick Laszlo , Michelle Matangi , Dave Parsons , Deanna Eberlin , and Wade Baker . Other bonus material in the paperback:
- Pictorials, detailed descriptions and workout log pages for the Primal Essential Movements and Primal sprint workouts
- “Hacks” for each of the 10 Primal Blueprint lifestyle laws to promote quick results in body composition, fitness, athletic performance, daily energy levels, and reduce disease risk factors and reliance on medication
- Common questions and stumbling blocks – pulled from MarksDailyApple.com reader submissions
- Commentary on diets and dieting, including compare/contrast of Primal Blueprint with other popular programs
I wouldn’t say you need to read this book if you’ve read the hardcover, but it makes for an excellent gift for a friend or loved one to become acquainted to the Primal Blueprint philosophy – especially during the time of year that people are inspired about new beginnings. Thanks for your interest and continued support.
