Introducing The Primal Blueprint 21-Day Total Body Transformation

UPDATE: The special offer outlined in this blog post has come to an end. Many thanks to everyone that participated in this book launch offer. Grok on!

After The Primal Blueprint was released in 2009 I started receiving recurring back-handed compliments along the lines of, “Wow – really comprehensive work Mark, great detail and excellent research. But…what exactly do I do now? The Primal Blueprint 21-Day Total Body Transformation is the answer to that question. It’s a practical, action-oriented guide for how to eat, exercise and live Primally – a step-by-step, “cut to the chase” resource to make a smooth and quick transition into a Primal lifestyle. In it I tell you exactly what to do every day for 21 days to take control of your health for the rest of your life.

I believe that this is the book that is going to take the Primal movement mainstream, and we in the Primal community must do everything possible to land this baby on the New York Times best-seller list as soon as the book hits the street (now!). I need your help to do that, so I’m offering some fantastic free gifts (including free books! see the 8 book offer below) for this urgent promotion that expires on Monday, October 24, 12 pm PST.

What’s This New Book About?

The 21-Day Total Body Transformation is all about making Primal living easy – distilling the philosophy of the Primal Blueprint (detailed in the 2009 hardcover volume) into 8 Key Concepts, 5 Action Items, and a lively 21-Day Challenge of daily endeavors in the areas of Diet, Exercise, and Lifestyle – with corresponding journal exercises.

Friends and members of the MarksDailyApple.com community have asked for an easy, practical, and visual book on how to get Primal quickly. Well, if you can spare an hour a day for just 21 days, I guarantee that you will reprogram your genes and transform your life with this guidebook.

Who’s It For? What’s in It?

There’s something in this for everyone. If you’re a Primal enthusiast, you will enjoy the extensive commentary that picks up where the book, the blog, and my Primal seminars left off. Yes, this is a must read and you won’t be sorry, even if it reviews some of your existing knowledge base. Here I detail how to transition from a sugar burner to a fat-burning beast, reprogramming your genes to reject a carbohydrate-based metabolism in favor of burning stored body fat – and manufacturing glucose and ketones on demand to stabilize blood sugar and hormone function.

I clarify and expand certain themes that have been covered in passing in other publications, such as the integral role of complementary lifestyle practices (excess artificial light and digital stimulation compromising weight loss efforts, anyone?), and covering the spectrum of choices from best to worst in each Primal food category in more detail than ever before. We’ll dig into some fun new stuff like my favorite Primal tagline: Live Long, Drop Dead! (you know, healthy and fit till the very end, like hunter-gatherers), explore further why grains (and legumes for that matter) are bad and fat is good, and expand on exercise themes such as adding more daily movement to dial-in a Primal exercise program regardless of your fitness level.

If you are new to the Primal scene, this book is one-stop shopping for all you need to know to enjoy the most life-altering benefits of living Primally within 21 days. If you are currently Primal-aligned and wish that somehow, some way, you could bestow the “secret” onto family or friends who are too reluctant or too busy, this book should definitely do the trick. It’s beautifully designed and illustrated and packed with over 100 color photos and concise section summaries – a page-turner even for the most attention- challenged among us in the digital age.

Inside the 192 pages you’ll find:

  • Custom photos and detailed descriptions of foods to toss and Primal foods to enjoy.
  • Tips for shopping (locally and online), and dining out Primally – including the best fast food options and how to Primal-tweak restaurant menus.
  • Easy go-to breakfast, lunch and dinner recipes. You don’t have to be a gourmet to eat Primally! You can do very well even if you have almost no time for meal prep.
  • Workout descriptions and visual sequences for anyone – even sedentary folks – to get started with Primal Blueprint Fitness.
  • Concise summaries of the Key Concepts so you can fully understand how and why to reprogram your genes in the direction of health, effortless weight management, and maximum longevity.
  • An action-packed 21-Day Challenge, with extensive daily journal exercises that will provide long-term reference material.

You want comments? We got comments:

Imagine you’re George Clooney. Take a moment to admire your grooming and wit. Okay, now imagine someone walks up to you and asks, “What’s your name?” You say, “I’m George Clooney.” Or maybe you say, “I’m the Clooninator!” You don’t say “I’m George of George Clooney Sells Movies Blog” and you certainly don’t say, “I’m Clooney Weight Loss Plan”. So while spam is technically meat, it ain’t anywhere near Primal. Please nickname yourself something your friends would call you.

  1. The book is now #6 on Amazon for all books! Plus #1 for “Diets” and #1 for “Exercise and Fitness!” I bought 3. Grok on!

  2. Just ordered 3 copies. Can’t wait to share them with my friends who will appreciate your book, Mark. Sent my e-mail for the free gifts and as I’m typing this, they are already in my mailbox. Thanks, Mark. I can’t wait to start reading.

  3. I’m surprised to see the cover picture you chose was of people running considering your stance on running. I myself have avoided it for years unless while playing or in trouble with the law. Running to me screams boredom and torture (unless, like I said, it’s in the form of play). Not trying to hate that’s just my first impression. I love your shit. So thankful someone is tapping into whats real, getting attention for it and helping others see the way.

      • Mark since you’re checking the comments what’s your opinion on the book Born To Run and its argument that the reason why chronic cardio people, your former self included, get so much damage to their bodies is because they have terrible foot posture from modern shoes, putting all their weight on their heels instead of their front balls and thus bypassing most of the shock-absorbant foot arch and letting the ankles, knees and even head/brain absorb too much of the shock.

We even evolved nuchal ligaments on our necks as soon as we stepped out of the woods and into the savannah to stabilize our heads while running (but studies found that marathoners/joggers still get gradual brain damage — because they are heel strikers and don’t know how to run properly).

Also I wonder if some of the over-training & heart plaque buildup problems seen in some studies may be caused by arrogant marathoners who think they’re invulnerable, and also by runners who mostly burn carbs and thus don’t know their own anaerobic thresholds – it’s easy to “overclock” your muscles and make them go anaerobic which in turn makes your heart pump like crazy for more oxygen when you’re constantly carbing up during the race.

But a study found that after 2-4 weeks of high-fat ketogenic dieting aerobic runners become just as efficient at feeding their aerobic muscles with fat as the carb-burners. Except a fat-burning marathoner can’t afford to over-exhaust his muscles and deplete his glycogen stores so they have to pace themselves better.

Wouldn’t our ancestors, who, according to the book, could outrun & outsweat most prey (when tracked properly) including horses & deer, mostly run on fat when hunting, as opposed to gatorade?

Amazon have sent me a confirmation email acknowledging my order and payment, saying my order will be shipped soon. Do I forward the confirmation email to Mark or do I have to wait til I get my books. I’m in Australia so it will take a couple of weeks for me to receive the books. Thanks.

  9. UK fans, I just ordered the book through amazon.com, and the price with “slow” shipping was only slightly more than through amazon UK. Hope this helps to push it to the top of the NY Times list and spread the word!
Mark, when are you coming to the UK to spread the word here?

    Simon M wrote on October 19th, 2011
    • Yep, I used .com too (ordered three from Scotland), everyone from outside the US can do the same if they are willing to pay a little extra for shipping; I reckon that’s the least we can do to say thanks to Mark for all the work he does here.

Where are you guys looking for the ranking though! Please post a link.

Mark’s at number three right now, though I suspect Steve Jobs is going to be tough to beat for the time being.

Also, on a somewhat related note, Wheat Belly is number 34. You may want to help Dr. Davis out as well.

Raphael wrote on October 19th, 2011
        • Wheat Belly has very mixed reviews in the Paelo world and doesn’t really help our case with some sloppy reporting of the ‘facts’.

  14. Hi Mark. I’ve been reading around on your blog for a while now and have incorporated some primal habits into my family of six a little at a time successfully. It all started with your ebook that I purchased a couple of years ago. I would like to support your cause to make this mainstream and would love to try out your new stuff. I don’t have high hopes immediately, but would like to send copies to my parents and sister also in hopes that they will come around.

I was thinking about ordering three copies and having one come to me, one to my dad and one to my mom at different addresses. If I place each of the orders together, does that mean I get the audio and extra $, but they don’t get the extra gifts? I was considering placing three different orders to ensure that they both get the $10 to spend and the ebook and podcast. Am I misunderstanding the choices?

BTW, I just started it today (there was a potluck yesterday, lol) – Day 21 happens to be my 40th birthday!

Only had to do the physical challenges as my pantry has already been purged and converted for over a year (minus my husband's Guinness which I don't even want to drink) but, hey, the physical is what I need help with!

I would love to help you hit the charts but the offer is only if you buy it from amazon am I correct? Since I live in sweden free shipping is not available and the cost is at the moment too much for me. If I buy it from a onlinebookshop in sweden I wont help you hit the list or what? I guess I dont get the offer either which is sad.

Sometimes it sucks living outside the US. Both when it comes to crossfit and marksdailyapple.
