  1. He has other vids in his Turbulence Training series that I would love to tackle except I don't have access to some of the equiment that he utilizes. I workout in my garage/climbing gym.

    Turbulence Training is awesome!

    WOD:
60min barefoot walk on the trails
some sprints in an unexpected, freshly mowed golf course :)
40min biking (I'm a few miles from the trails..)

    Hot out today!

    Day 5:
"Move slowly" - 40 minute walk. It was going to be a 1 hour walk but the rain cut it short.

DCKMB, this is a great thread and I think you should continue it. I didn't do much this week but it was definitely better than the last month or two. Seeing everyone's workouts will inspire me to get out of my comfort zone and try something new. You know I got the P90X DVDs last month and I still haven't used them. Which of those do you recommend for a beginner like me?

  4. @maba - for p90x, I'd start with Cardio X to give it a look see. It's a combination of a few of the programs and it's only 45 minutes long...not that you'd want to go any longer than that.

If I recall correctly, it includes Yoga, Kenpo, Core Synergistics, and Plyometrics.

maba, I think Kenpo is the easiest P90X work-out but that's just my opinion. Did you get the guide that tells you what sequence you're supposed to do them in? It's pretty hard so don't beat yourself up if you can't make it all the way through each work-out. Try for 20-30 minutes to begin with and see how it goes (especially with plyo, legs, and chest- lots of push-ups).

I'm outta here for the weekend but I'll start a new thread on Monday if everyone is interested.

    Peace out.

I think this would be a great weekly thread!

Ok, so here's how my week has gone so far:

    Monday: 90 min Yoga
    Tuesday: tabata style burpees
Wednesday: hubby tailored a primal workout just for me. We were setting up the workout bench and so he stood at the top of the stairs and I would sprint up the stairs, he'd hand me a weight and I'd carry it down. Lather rinse repeat! It was fun, and a great workout.
    Thursday: Weight training

The plan for the rest of the week:
Friday: Play in the pool with the littles
Saturday: Hike up Sulpher Mountain, walk around Banff...
    Sunday: tabata style burpees

  7. DCKMB I would love to see you continue these threads. I too haven't been too good about working out regularly until I had this post to answer to.
AND, it's great to see what everyone is doing and using their notes to mix it up for myself.

Lovestoclimb, thanks for posting the bodyweight 250 link, I have saved it to my favorites as another option for a WOD to mix in with the few others that I have come up with.

  8. Did do anything yesterday, needed to rest, but the planned walk for lunchtime was interrupted by my workload. I crawled into bed by 11pm, but that was in part, due to packing my gym bag. I went back again today! Yay!

HIIT - more mild, only 2x sprints.

    Weights:

Pushups (knees on bench, hands on floor)
    Dumbbell Shoulder Presses
    Standing Cable Flys
    Reverse Grip Cable Pulldown
    Tri-Dips

A tad sore, but I'll be back in shape in no time at all!

Glad to be back at it, I was so sore for two days I couldn;t move. Today ran 3.25 miles, early afternoon it was very humid out.

  10. I'd love for it to be humid here! I had to deal with a balmy -7C and flurries here this morning :P

I think I need to live somewhere else.

  11. I was sore too. That's One MAJOR reason that I don't like to go on 'sabbatical'. Once you lift weights regularly, you don't get that horrific 'painful' soreness. Just a buzzing feeling in your muscles. I like that!

  12. Tomorrow morning - a drytooling session in the home climbing gym.

For those unfamiliar with drytooling - check out this vid...
