Vibrams - so sad!

I am having the hardest time with these.
I won a pair of Vibrams in one of the contests the other month... and, well... I still don't have a pair I can wear. I was SO excited too.First they were out of stock for a while.
Then my husband measured my foot wrong and we ordered a size that was WAY too big.
Then I re-measured my foot and ordered the closest size, and they came tonight in the mail and they're perfect everywhere except for my big toe which is a bit cramped. And it doesn't seem like it's the type of thing that would "stretch out" you know?
So I guess I need the next size up? But what if it's too big everywhere else on my foot (since the current size fits perfectly everywhere else)?
GAH! I'm still really excited about them, and still really grateful to have won them, but I'm just frustrated with my sizing issues mostly... that it's been a WHILE and I still don't have a pair to wear. I've been so excited to try them out "in the field" but can't yet.
Excuse my little pity party/vent... I guess I didn't realize they'd be that hard to fit. :( And there isn't a store nearby that carries them, so I can't go in a real store and try them on, which would be the easiest.

FNW:
Sorry about your nightmare. SHEESH--- it HAS been a long time since the contest. Hopefully the next pair will fit you like a....foot glove???

Here's hoping...

They do stretch out a bit after a couple wears!
I just bought some and they were pretty snug in a couple places but after three solid days of wear they've stretched out quite a bit!!Posted 4 months ago # -
Are you serious? It just seems like with the way the sole wraps around the tip of your toe... there isn't really any stretching potential.

my big toe is a tad cramped, but it seems infinitely better than one size up
i figure as long as it doesn't hurt or anything it's okay
just got my pair 2 days ago though

my vibrams are really working out great. i got some ksos and they resist the water like whoa.

I still haven't broken into my Vibrams either. My right one fits like a glove whereas the left one makes my achilles tendon hurt like hell. One of the reasons I haven't been working out as much as I'd like to is because of the pain I have when I wear them. If it doesn't get better, I might just go back to my regular shoes.
I hope you get a pair soon that fits you well.

FNW I have fat big toes, so the big toe pocket on all of my Vibrams started out REALLY tight, when the rest of the shoe fit perfectly. After a few days of a lot of wear, they do stretch out though :) If they fit everywhere else, I'd say wear them around the house as much as possible. Your big toes may be sore for a couple of days, but you should notice after a few days that they have stretched. I also have always had problems with ingrown toenails on my big toes, which didn't help with the tight toe pocket and contributed to my early toe-soreness, but that is getting better now too (thanks to cutting my toenails differently, nothing to do with being Primal :).

Theres a store about a minute away with every type of vibram and KSO possible, and I really want to go buy one, but everyone seems to have trouble with sizing... might just go barefoot when I want to.

It really is better if you can try them on in a store, first, to size them. I wear a 7 1/2 womens shoe (US sizing) and measured at a size 39. The salesperson suggested I go up one size from what they measured me at for comfort so my Vibrams are a Women's size 40. They are a little longer than my toes but fit wonderfully everywhere else and have been very comfortable.

i originally went for 42s, which worked fine and were comfy, but then switched them for 41s which were tighter and more glove like which i think i prefer

FNW-The rubber undersole doesn't necessarily stretch out, but the fabric part does I think, so they do get more roomy the more you wear them.

Hmm... I guess I just feel like if the fabric part stretches too much it might be more likely to get a hole in it or something.
I mean, my big toes aren't abnormally huge or anything like that.Though based on Hannah's experience, maybe I'll try just wearing them around the house with the tags still on... and if they don't feel better after a few days then I could still return them I guess.
I really don't want to have to go up another size because I don't want the other toes to be too long and I don't want it to be too big in the heel either. ugh.
Wish we had a store where I could try them on Katt.

When I first got my Vibrams they felt a touch too big but I went with them anyway because they didn't have a smaller size (tried them in a store). Then, about a month later a little hole started in the seam of one of the toes and I took them back to the store and exchanged them, but had to go down a size (all they had in stock). They fit like a glove but sometimes my big toe feels cramped too and I do miss that one size larger. The larger size did have about an extra half inch of length in the back but I was able to tighten them so it didn't matter.
I'd vote for going one size up. Hope you get a pair you're comfortable in soon!

gah! now I don't know what to do! :(

Where them for a few days and see how they feel. If you can't feel comfortable, get one size up. :)

I prefer a slightly larger fit than too small. I just can't stand that cramped feeling. I bought KSOs in size 40 and I wear 8 to 8 1/2 (women's) depending on the shoe. But my big toe is pretty even with my next toe as well. The KSOs run slightly larger from what the folks at citysports told me, so I would probably go with a 41 in other styles.

OK... guess I will just return them and get the bigger size. If it's TOO big I'll return them AGAIN and get these AGAIN.
But I don't really want to risk making them un-returnable by wearing them for a few days, even around the house with the tags on...
And my big toes are sad.Posted 4 months ago #
