Are you ready for another survival week?

Things aren't looking so good for Grok. Maybe there's a draught and foraging just isn't working out. Hunting may be sparse. Can you survive?

    Guidelines:

    1) No alcohol, dairy, chocolate (or whatever your vice is.)

    2) Carbs below 50.

    3) IF one meal per day.

    4) Use only what you already have in your kitchen. No new groceries.

How many can you follow? Can you take them all on at the same time? Can you survive? Hehehe...

    Good luck!

Yupper! It's tough sometimes, but totally worth it by Saturday.

I'd love to do this but seriously, no dairy?

If you choose. Not everybody can do all the guidelines, but it's worth a shot, no? Grok didn't need dairy. ;)

Noooo not up to it this week!

Think it must be the stormy weather, want to eat fat and lots of it!

    Good luck everyone.

Started out great with some heavy lifting and a big breakfast, but I'm STARVING already, and I didn't bring much for lunch. I've gotta check in on my sister's cats while she's on vacation, so maybe if I just hang at her house I won't be tempted to break my IF.

  9. Okay I am in for this time around. I realize I eat copious amounts of dairy and I would like to see what it does to my blood sugar if I cut it out. I am already realizing today how much I rely on it. Reaching for the cheese for my eggs, reaching for the milk, etc. It will be interesting.

I can't IF because I'm on diabetes medication. Hope that is okay...

  10. I had eggs and canadian bacon fried in coconut oil for breakfast- with salsa.

Are you off work today, Diana?

Of course it's ok. Cutting out dairy is as huge as IFing. Breakfast sounds delicious! I'm totally trying that bacon/coconut oil thing.

Nope. Working, but goofing off- lol.

    Decisions, decisions.

I had 3 eggs scrambled with spinach for breakfast, topped with buffalo chicken wing sauce. I've been eating it on everything lately.

Lunch was some "Survivor Soup." Some of the pork I've been eating for a week and a half. Smoked pork in bone broth, with onoins and mushrooms. I also had a boiled egg.

Problem. I was supposed to IF for dinner, BUT... I was asked out on an impromptu date at my favorite pizza place. That's just asking for trouble! I can't very well go on a first date with a guy (and I already accepted since I couldn't think of an alternative), and not eat. So... I'm thinking I might be safe with antipasto? The only thing is it has swiss cheese. I could pick it out. I really want to IF, so maybe I'll pull a double IF tomorrow.

  13. Do they have a salad bar? Or do the antipasto and double IF tomorrow. Sounds workable to me.

Had sausage and sauerkraut for lunch. I think I'm on track for about 35-40 carbs today. Will plug it all into fitday when I'm done eating for the day to see what the totals are.

I went with the antipasto and it was HUGE. Totally awesome. Mostly meat and olives, so I think I'm pretty safe for the day on carbs. Double IF tomorrow. It's gonna be rough.

Sauerkraut is so good. Gonna have to get me some. :)

  15. Cool, sounds like you did great!

I finished the day with strawberries, almonds, salmon, cauliflower, and cod liver oil.

Carbs came out to be 38 or 14%, fat was at 61%, and protein 25%.

Was gonna start a new round of P90X but wasn't feeling it. Got outside and enjoyed a 40 minute walk instead.

I feel good. Blood sugar was stable all day, no cravings or low energy.

    Great job!

This morning's starting out rough. I'm really jonesing for some apples with sunflower seed butter. I MUST have it for dessert.

This is gonna be a long day...

Good luck Diana, you can do it! I'm going camping this weekend, and couldn't get into the survival mode this week. Though real camping is survival-ish :) Hiking, fishing, cooking food in the coals of a hot fire, it's going to be awesome.

I'm still doing a half-survivor week, trying to really listen to my body and not eat when I'm not actually hungry at all (which is weird, I was a big fan of snacking), and keeping my carbs low but not super low. Maybe 50-75. Next will be the ability to leave food on my plate. I take portions that I think look small anyway, but I usually clean my plate whether I need the last few bites or not.

    No Trident, Diana!

Me, I'm gonna smoke a pipe.... Just kidding.

So Diana how was the date?:)

Hannah your week sounds great. Hey I know what you mean about cleaning your plate, I ate too much dinner tonight but it was so tasty - pot roast and bacon...mmmm I might actually IF breakfast tomorrow so it is survival Hump Day for me!

Oh Hannah, I know what you mean about cleaning the plate. I sometimes find myself licking it- lol. I guess I just can't stand to see anything wasted. I think I'm going to make that a goal, and just save the rest as leftovers.

OTB, no trident!? *cries* Yeah, I really should abstain. It's gonna be tough but I'm gonna try.

Miriam, the date was OK. Nice guy but no spark. *sigh* Oh well. Maybe next time.

Hahaha, I licked the egg yolks off my plate this morning, couldn't get all of it onto my bacon :) My husband always looks at me like I'm crazy when I do it. See it's a problem!

  22. hannah- I'm working on that myself- eating when not hungry. Typically I would eat every couple of hours whether I was hungry or not. Tough to get out of that pattern.

Diana, what else is on your menu for today?

My blood sugar was 122 this morning- high. Not sure why. Anyway, had the eggs/canadian bacon fried in coconut oil again for breakfast. Have left-over salmon/cauliflower for lunch. Then I don't know what else because the pickins are gettin' slim in my fridge.

IFed breakfast and now lunch. So far so good. :)

I have no idea what I want to do for supper. I'm making a trip up to my parents' house so who knows what they're planning to have.

Slim pickins sometimes makes me invent really tasty concoctions- lol. How else do you think I found genoa salami topped with nut butter? :P

  24. Hey!!! I missed Survival Week #2?! Oh well, maybe I can participate in the next one.

I thought about IF breakfast this morning, but I swam laps for 45 minutes and wanted to make the hubby a rare breakfast of bacon and eggs this morning, so, alas, I may need to skip lunch :-(

Anything to get into my brand new bikini before summer ends!!! Arrrghhh! ;-)

You can jump in at any time. I sorta botched yesterday and missed my IF, so I'm doubling up today- not sure how great an idea that is- lol.

There will be another. Perhaps next time I should do a "heads up" a few days before to let people get ready.

  26. Sassy, you can still do this survival week. The week is still young ^_^

Okay, so I had Diana's antipasto on my mind since last night so I went to Whole Foods and got some for lunch today- lol. It has meat, olives, and tomatos. Such a bad influence! :-)

It's only fair for planting the suggestion of bacon cooked in coconut oil... which I still haven't tried!

IF about over (yay!) Off to the parents' house. I wonder what we'll have. At least they're starting to get the idea of what I do, and don't eat. :)

  28. 3 more hrs until my fast ends (I think my chocolate, chocolate chip ice cream binge from last night is affecting my current fasting hunger pangs...uck...).

Tonight, I finish the batch for my kids (poor things went to bed without the ice cream and I promised them they could have some tonight), now, can I resist???

Seems like one little slip up makes you crave more...thus the vicious cycle begins.

I have an easy fix: Don't slip up! ;-D

I find that to be true also. One slip starts a whole cycle for me. I now know that if I do indulge, that I will be facing a week of cravings and deprivation until my system normalizes.

I sorta pigged out tonight. Chicken, cherries, strawberries, some bbq pork and sunflower seeds. I would say I hit nearly 900 calories... but I guess considering I fasted all day it's not horrible.

I think I'm going to IF breakfast in the morning. IFing breakfast is way easier than lunch or dinner.

My god, that ice cream sounds good. I... Must... Resist...

    Posted 4 months ago #
  30. I finished the day with steak, strawberries, avocado, and cucumber salad. Carbs for the day total 36 or 10%, fat is at 67% and protein 23%.

Yeah the ice cream! I've got a whole new batch in my freezer that is calling to me. Must wait till Saturday though...
