  1. Time to really rough it out. Things aren't looking so good for Grok. Winter's coming and food is getting scarce.

    Guidelines:

    1) No alcohol, dairy, chocolate, or "treats."

    2) Carbs below 50.

    3) IF one meal per day.
    3b) Or try going Carnivore.

    4) Use only what you already have in your kitchen. No new groceries.

How many can you follow? Can you take them all on at the same time? Can you survive?

Oh man me too, last week had TWO days of ridiculous eating. Can't wait for some good carnivore days, I already know that tomorrow is cornish hens for dinner, and tuesday is a center cut lamb leg roast :)

    Definitely 2, 3, 3b, and 4, we'll see about 1 (It's that week, and I can't promise I won't have a bit of my 99% chocolate!).

I'm also going to walk and sprint tomorrow, should be a good day!

  4. holy smokes do I EVER need a survival week!

I just got a huge box of Grass Fed and Pasture raised meats as well, so I am all stocked up and ready to go.

    I'm in for:

1- No dairy, chocolate, alcohol, or 'treats'
    2- Carbs below 50
3- IF one meal per day/carnivore days.

I have been battling a pretty bad stomach virus and spent last week either throwing everything up, or not really eating at all. I finally feel better so this should be a good week to get back on track eating wise.

    Thanks DR!

I am in for all of it, and this time I am actually prepared enough for the no new groceries rule too! Lots of eggs in the fridge!
Boy, I agree ladies... I am also in a huge need of a survival week. I was way bad yesterday...
Ah, to feel the freedom that all meat gives me once again.

  6. Ok, here we go!

    B: IF

L: FNW's "coconut drink." Coconut milk thinned with water, stevia and vanilla extract. OMG, it looks so thick and creamy. I can't wait to try it.

D: I'm planning on eggs (3) and a big ol' ham steak. :)

I am so in this week. Last time I fell off the wagon halfway through. I am determined to make it this week!
    I am in for:
    - No alcohol, chocolate, or treats
    - Carbs below 50
    - I am going to attempt an IF (skipping breakfast)at least once this week and try to go carnivore at least 1 day this week.
    - I just grocery shopped so I am good with no new groceries.

    Today I am having:
Breakfast- eggs cooked in butter with 4 strips of thick cut bacon
    Lunch- homemade chili (no beans)
Dinner- a nice juicy steak with a side of asparagus

    Total carbs- 25 grams

    Okay here's the plan:

Somewhere between breakfast and lunch I'll eat my turkey/chicken/bacon/cabbage/carrot soup
(it's not that great, I've been avoiding it actually!) and 2 hb eggs.

Dinner = Cornish hen!! Yum I love this meal :)

Workout = Sprints at the gym, then yoga to cool down

I'm not sure if I'll eat anything else, the cornish hens are big (at least twice as big as the teeny ones at the grocery store, maybe 1.5 pounds each). If I don't have anything else carbs will be around 14 from the soup and eggs (and garlic). If I do have something else...might be bacon :)

Oh, I need this SO BAD. I've been absent from MDA and life, it seems, since my pooch passed. It's time for a new start and getting back to primal. I've been self medicating with cereal, cookies, pancakes, chips, etc. It's so horrible, but in times of stress and sadness you return to those feel good foods. No one ever says, "I'm so sad, I think I'll have some bacon".
    B: omelet mess
L: IF will have to have a protein shake after my trainer, though, around 5pm
D: those cornish hens sound good. I just like the idea of eating an entire animal! I think I'll get those while I am out...even if it means shopping! Hannah, how fo you make yours?

WOD: Eliptical and weight training on my own, and then to my trainer later in the day, and walking the new puppy which has way too much energy.

  10. i'm in. i just went nearly primal a couple weeks ago well...nearly as i haven't completely cut out dairy (i eat full fat greek yogurt) and a small wedge of laughing cow cheese. this seems like a good challenge! should we report in daily? i've been able to mostly keep my carbs under 100 so a drop to <50 will be interesting.i need to add a lot more fat/protein in today but this is my plan so far:

PJAP I start with mixing up my dry herbs and spices (I don't measure or anything), which usually include oregano/thyme/sage/salt/pepper but sometimes I'll throw marjoram or other stuff in if I feel like it. Then I peel some garlic cloves, usually 3 or so per hen. Then youstick your finger between the skin near the neck and the breast, and gently seperate the skin from the meat. That way you can put your spices and garlic cloves between the skin and the breast, and it gives the meat an awesome flavor!

Then in the oven (covered) for about an hour and 20 minutes (mine are big), then uncovered for 10 minutes. YUM!!! It is very satisfying to eat a whole hen, and to have your very own. It's a fun meal.

  13. hey hey party people!

I've got a belly full o' eggs and I'm ready to rock n roll.

    No dairy, alcohol, or chocolate.
    Carbs less than 50.
Might try to IF lunch one day just to see what happens.

    Posted 5 months ago #
  14. B: 20 Almonds, 1/4 c Sunflower seeds, coffee with splash of soy milk.

L: Chicken Stew (chicken breast, canned tomato, chickpeas, kidney beans, black beans [last of the pre-primal stores] onion, garlic, spices)

    D: IF

I will be over 50 carbs, but I will do some carnivore days this week, so I'm not too worried.

    Hot Yoga tonight.

    Go team!

  15. I'm in! Carbs under 50, no choco, IF once a day or carnivore day (yum!). Already IF'd lunch. I ate soooo much this past weekend that I felt like an Ommpa-loompa! It was all good stuff, but still, don't need to stretch the tummy.

Today: 2 scrambled eggs, 2 pcs bacon, cottage cheese & coffee w/ cream; IF lunch; dinner = burger & creamed spinach w/ garlic.

I'll cut down on the dairy after today. Already promised the wee ones the spinach.

    misatheme: yes, report daily.
Try a few days of keeping those carbs really low... it feels so good it might convert you to carnivore. :)

Hope its not too late to join. i missed the last one, and really find this helpful.
    I will commit to:
    * under 50g carbs
    * IF one meal or carnivore day
    * No new groceries.
Can't fully committ to #1. I may have a treat for my birthday tomorrow. I plan on celebrating on the 9th, so there may be ONE drink involved and a treat that day.

  18. 45 carbs today. Had eggs, canadian bacon, salsa, apple, almond butter, chicken curry salad. And about 3 TBSP of coconut oil.

Right now I have a sirloin roast in the crockpot and loaded with mushrooms, celery, carrots, onion, garlic, and a rutabaga. I'll be eating on that tomorrow.

    No exercise.

PJAP, it's nice to see you again in these here parts.

Ended with 23 carbs today, I had everything I said plus 3 pieces of bacon and 1 oz of 99% dark chocolate...it's starting to taste really good :) And I need the little bit of splurge this week, I deprived myself way too much the week before last and it really bit me in the ass.

Now I'm going to do my 30-day shred (level 3) and then watch Dancing With the Stars and knit :) It's like I'm 25 and 80 all at the same time! Awesome job today everyone!

  20. Final tally, 9.8 carbs. 7 from the coconut milk and the rest from the smoked ham and eggs.

I was brave today and went for a walk in the chilly weather, with just my jacket instead of the thick coat I wanted. 40 minutes and it felt good. :) I will adapt!

  21. for dinner i ended up having tuna salad (tuna, olive oil, tomato, cucumber, avocado, onion, salt, pepper) I have to play volleyball later and realized i'd totally binge after if i didn't eat. Crisis hopefully averted!

  22. After a headache this morning that just wouldn't go away, I'm taking another couple weeks (minimum) break from coffee. So I'll be strictly water for beverages, with maybe the occasional herbal tea. I know from going over three weeks last time it shouldn't be any problem, but I love the taste and the ritual!

Today I IFed. It wasn't on purpose. Actually. my stomach was off and I felt a little queasy.
No workout since if I ran around I'd probably puke.

  24. Great first day everybody! Ready for day two?

Will check in with my tally later. :)

Oh, Frogfarm, do you still get the headache with switching to decaff? I absolutely LOVE my coffee, especially with fall and winter coming. I pretty much just drink decaff now and don't seem to have any issues when I don't get my daily dose.

Day 2! I felt really good all day yesterday after doing an IF by skipping breakfast. I had lots of energy and after I ate lunch I was good again until dinner, no cravings, no hunger. I am going to try again today.

    Breakfast- IF
Lunch- 2 eggs cooked in butter, 6 strips of bacon, 1/2 avocado
    Dinner- chicken, side of asparagus

    Workout- Boot camp

    Total carbs- 17 grams

Great job with the adapting DR! I've been trying to avoid my heavy coat as well, until it starts dropping into the 30's and 20's anyway.

B: Jambalaya (try it, it's sooo good!)
    L: nada
D: Beef ribs, fatty and delicious, caveman style :) And I found a rub recipe that had no sugar or anything, just herbs and spices, and they turned out so well (I'll be eating leftovers)! Last time we had ribs hubby did them, and the only recipes he could find all had sugar in them. The ribs were on the grill, and from inside the house (all doors and windows closed) I could smell the sugar. The meat turned out really well, but the sugar was overpowering. Anyway, these beef ribs are awesome and not sugary :)

Don't know if there will be any other food, I didn't bring anything else to work, and last night I did great with no snacking after dinner. Maybe I'll have some bacon to round out the day!

    WO: Just walking I think
Total Carbs: around 10, I'll report the final number later

    Posted 5 months ago #
  27. Diana: I don't know if the headache was coffee related; don't think so, but we'll see. I've never noticed any difference drinking decaf -- in fact, I get all the same mental and physical effects regardless, even when I know it's decaf (so it's not a placebo). Go figure! The hard part last time was making coffee for other people without drinking it myself, but it's no different from making food I don't eat :)

  28. i decided to go dairy free completely next week. i have 4 greek yogurts left in my fridge and i don't believe in throwing away food lol.

yesterdaily ended up light on the calories tally: 840kcals, 59g carbs. no chocolate :) exercise: 25min HIIT V ups, burpees, walking planks, pushups, side planks, jumping jacks, plyometric jumps/lunges, squat and press

today: if i stick to the plan my carb count will be 34g my lowest ever! i may take a rest day as i've worked out hard the last 3 days in a row we shall see the energy levels

bravo to all who made it sub 10g of carbs yesterday i'm so impressed with that! random side note: i am a believer now in the no grains thing. seriously, i weighed myself and it's TTOTM and usually i am up 3-4lbs. i weigh less than i did 3 weeks ago by 4lbs?!?! crazy.

  30. goodmorning all!

Yesterday was a great day. It feels good to be healthy and back on track.

    today the aim is:

B-Americano with a bit of soy milk, 20-ish almonds and some sunflower seeds

    L-Chicken Chili

    D-IF

On a side note a few weeks ago I decided that I wouldn't be drinking until Christmas, and so far so good. I had my first real 'test' this weekend, attending a friends house warming party. Tequila abound and I didn't touch a drop and had a really good time! Being on the wagon can be fun... haha
