If you think you have a great topic for a blog post, are interested in doing a guest post for MDA, have a "Dear Mark" question or otherwise have a suggestion for me and the Worker Bees post it here. I'll check this forum periodically and try to address as many as possible.
Thanks!

Mark,
I was just pondering meat. Which is the best. I was just looking at ND for N6:N3 ratios for different ground meats wondering which was best for, say, a taco salad.
And when going to ground meat do you get the leanest or opt for more fat. Or should you buy a roast and grind it yourself.

In the same vein, I'd like to see a post about the prevalence of the wishy washy use of the phrase "lean meats" in all manner of paleo/primal literature and studies. Why do all the study authors and other writers pull that particular punch, and not just admit that fatty meats (as long as they're quality meats with a low O6:O3 ratio) are perfectly healthy?

I would like to know how best to incorporate fruit into a primal lifestyle. On this forum I have heard everything from eating as much as you want to limiting to about 2 servings a day. And also I have heard everything about the best timing of eating the fruit from eating it prior to the fat and protein in ones meal to gain the full impact of the nutrients to eating it after having eaten some fat and/or protein so as not to spike your blood sugar. So I guess my main two questions would be how much and when to eat fruit.

Nick, This has pretty much been addressed already. Check out this post: http://www.marksdailyapple.com/lean-meat/

Something about the most primal menu items at various chain restaurants... since most of us will find ourselves in situations where we're eating out with groups or whatever, and it's helpful to be "armed" with that knowledge when we go in...
In that same vein, posts about how to deal with non-primal social situations (potluck dinners, for example... filled with desserts, pasta salads, etc) and how to make the best choices without socially ostracizing ourselves.

Mark there has been a lot of talk in the forums about the PB and the menstrual cycle/type 1 Diabetes.
I also think more articles covering the *transition* from a CW diet to the PB would be very useful. More posts along the lines of what you recently sent us about bread replacements, or your recent post about how to talk to your friends about the PB.
Questioning CW is already a big step. Adding the notion of going cold-turkey on grains and pasta makes the PB seem unreachable for most.

I second Daughte rof Groks suggestion. Want to know more about that, too!

Ah, thanks Mark. That's from over a year before I started reading the site, so hadn't seen it before. I just tend to be entertained by nouns that end up never apart from certain adjectives as a way of perpetuating unsupported hypotheses. Some others aside from "lean meats" are "healthy whole grains" and "artery clogging saturated fat".

Hey Mark,
I think it would be really great if you did a post on hemp seeds as a smart fuel. With 33% protein and high levels of monounsaturated fats, EFAs and Omega-3s, as well as containing all the amino acids essential to maintaining human life, these little seeds are one of the most nutritious food sources on the planet. While they can be used in all sorts of dishes, I regularly put them in smoothies and they make a great addition to the Primal Energy Bars. Please consider giving your MDA seal of approval to the modest hemp seed.

All great ideas, everyone. I'm adding them to my list and will try to work them into my schedule. Keep 'em coming!

Not a blog post topic idea, but it would be great to have a section of the forum just for primal journals so those are all in one place.

I'd like to see more on raising Primal Kids--how to ensure their getting quality primal nutrition at school or at day care. Primal play, etc...

FlyNavyWife - That is sort of what this forum has become:

Good enough?

I wouldn't call all the journals "success stories" right away though.... like, since I'm just starting, I would be hesitant to start a "success story" already. Does that make sense?
Primal kids is an awesome one! I ditto that.
And I just thought of two more that I'd love to read soon.
Primal Preparedness: now that hurricane season is upon us again, how can my husband and I be sure to prepare in case of a long power outage? After hurricane Katrina, our base didn't have power for a bit over a week.
The Primal Pantry: We know about meats, veggies, fruits, and nuts, but what other kitchen items do you keep in stock? Favorite oils/vinegars, almond flour, coconut flour (if you use them), whatever else would not be in your refrigerator.

I'd like to know more about exercise, especially for those of us who tend to be lazy when we get the chance. My only motivation to do any strength training are the machines at the gym, but I know I could be doing better. Maybe some "strength training for beginners." I mean, how do you go all out when one pushup IS all that can I can get out?
Or maybe creative ways to get a strength training workout, other than just doing different moves. I would rather trick myself into exercising. :P

I am lazy as well. I'm strong and reasonably fit, but have a probably pathological aversion to strong excercise. I think it's because I get no noticeable endorphin high from it.

A couple things come to mind.
1. Your site is actually very well cross-linked. New articles usually offer 5-10 links (or more) back to older posts, but you may find it useful to *revisit* older material occasionally, either by writing on it again from a fresh angle or perhaps a once a week *yesterday's primal* that highlights older articles (via links) for newcomers to the site.
2. You might want to make this a sticky thread so it hangs out up top and people can find it easily when they have a post idea they'd like you to address.

I would like an in depth look at hormones and how they are affected by Living the Primal way and how they may be affected if you Live wrong.
How the mechanisms work during after an intense workout.Sleep.Fasting etc
For instance my wife has been diagnosed with low thyroid but I have not really been able to persuade her she can fix herself without medicine.Posted 5 months ago # -
I would love to see a definitive guide on fruits.
My second request would be to have some sort of networking capability on the site. I'm not talking "Primal Myspace" or anything like that, but maybe a pinpoint map that people can volunteer to be part of. I'm in St Louis, MO and the only primal people I know are me and my two roommates... it would be nice to have someone local to potentially meet up with who has the same dietary and physical activity mindset.

Hey Mark, I know you've done lots of posts about fruit, I have read them all several times. I also brought your book and read it in less than 24hours (twice).
But, I still seem to be a little confused. As said above, anothe rpost about which fruits, how many and what time and what to eat with/not with would be gtreat!
Also a networking capability sounds great! I'dlove to meet up with some primals near me!

in line with fruits...maybe a chart showing which ones are lower in fructose
Posted 5 months ago # -
Yes, a "definitive guide to fruits" would be terrific.
Also, Mark, I would like to see a post especially for primal women; although the PB can work wonders for all of us, I suspect that in some areas, the PB is not one-size-fits-all for both men and women. I'd like to hear more on how women ought to best utilize it in order to maximize its benefits and meet our unique health needs..
I would like to hear your take on how to use it to find the balance between too little body fat and too much for optimum fertility, bone and heart health, specifically.. in addition to your ideas on a host of other female-specific items.
Posted 5 months ago # -
Seems to be a little confusion (including myself) about a kind of transitional phase where increased fat intake may run *alongside* carb intake, and whether this is harmful, or slightly less bad (!) than carbs alone...?
There is a thread here http://www.marksdailyapple.com/forum/topic/fat-carbs-recipe-for-disaster
Would also be good to see some female-specific info on hormonal etc effects although I appreciate that "guinea pigs" may be few and far between at this stage!
I also agree with SerialSinner above - I'm stubborn enough to "experiment" on myself, but most people I know would need a bit more coaxing to try out primal things. Eg I told a friend that the very basic idea was "eat like cavemen, because our bodies haven't caught up with farming (yet)" but she didn't quite get it as she was asking if coke was ok on the diet, and what could she eat at work instead of baked potato (the healthiest canteen option).
So as much as I appreciate the researched articles and detailed info, maybe a couple of basic "What to substitute" posts would help someone who is teetering on the brink...?Posted 5 months ago # -
I second hfox on the female primal information, that would be fantastic, also Diana on the beginner workouts and also graeme on whether the primal diet could fix thyroid problems.... I also suffer and take armour thyroid (pig thyroid extract) and would love to get off all meds.
I hate taking medication and struggled with it for a while, I feel better with armour but would love to be without it.
Thanks Mark

Great question Mark!
One thing my brother asked is whether or not eating primal/paleo will have a significantly adverse affect when you DO give in to regular sugars, grains, cereals, etc.
Meaning, does your body get so dependent on eating a certain way that when you do eat a slice of birthday cake you just balloon up? Or is it better to have a cheat day once a week to stabilize your body so that it isn't too affected down the road? This is pretty negative thinking in that it doesn't give the human's ability of will power much credibility, but... after the question was asked I did end up wondering the same thing!
Menstrual cycles and contraceptives would be interesting to learn about as well. The female's hormonal roller coaster is a quite the mystery.
THANKS and LOVE the blog :)

Hey, thanks for doing the restaurant one. :)

My pleasure, FlyNavyWife. Thanks for the feedback and the idea.
And thanks to everyone else here for their thoughts. I'll try to get to all of them sooner or later.
Keep them coming!

How about a post on some of the best sources on the internet for the purchase of coconut oil, cacao, primal oils, primal dessert options, meats, pemmican, jerky, etc.
I would like to make several online purchases of these type of items and if others have favorite and reputable sources it would save me time and concern.

have you ever posted about tomatoes and nightshades?
How about root veggies?
