Hi everyone!
I already started my Primal Journal the other day, so I'll skip the intro. I just received my PB book yesterday and when I read the description of the Korgs' life I wanted to cry. That's our life--all the way down to my husband's commute and cholesterol meds, to my erroneously thinking Nutrigrain waffles are good for my family, to my 7-year-old single-handedly keeping Benadryl in business, to my teen son being diagnosed with ADD.
No more! The change starts today, with my husband and me. I am not overweight, so I don't have any weight loss goals to post. In fact, I'd like to gain 5 or so lbs. of muscle. I'd also like to see a decrease in my chronic joint pain, as well as a decrease in my frequent heartburn (I go through Tums like candy). I get a lot of walking exercise at my waitress job, but I need to add some strength training, sprinting and play! (We bought a badminton set for our backyard.)
Off to go cook some eggs.....

Hi there!
Looking forward to making some great changes over the next 30 days! There are some aesthetic goals that I would like to achieve, primarily dropping roughly 5lbs and adding 2-3lbs lean muscle. More than that, I would like to continue to create more awareness in all aspects of my life. I want to find a way to move that not only honors my body but nature. I have been caught in years of bodybuilding idealism and am searching for a new, more natural way to move, one that involves intuitively giving my body just whats it's asking for bio-mechanically, biochemically and emotionally. Here's to the journey ahead!

I am in the process of moving back to my home country and staying Primal is a real challenge. I am going to give it my best shot and am happy about the 20/80 rule!
Good luck everyone!!

I'm in! I want to walk the talk--be 100% committed to the primal lifestyle.

I started one week ago in effort to reduce the frequency and intensity of migraines I've been getting lately. Over the past few months I went from infrequent occurrences to nearly 2x a week! While I have a family history of migraines, I'd like to see if a lifestyle change will help. Also, the longer I can avoid taking medicine the better. I'm only 32 now and really don't want to go down the pharma path if I can avoid it. Since I adjusted my diet last week, I haven't had any migraines!

My challenge is to keep primal in my eating for the whole month (and beyond). I've pulled it off for two weeks and felt great and dropped a bit of weight but then sugar, chocolate and wine (I know a little is ok but once I start I don't stop with a little) tempt me back to an unhealthy lifestyle. I want to keep up my workout plan ( lifting a few times a week and doing some met con stuff) but add sprints. My goal is to drop some fat.. ok, lots of fat, add some muscle and get my sleeping back under control.
My weight is aprox 150, I am 5'4" and if the scale that tells me my body fat percentage is at all accurate I am about 25% fat. I want that number lower.
Primal here I come.Posted 6 months ago # -
-Gain 5 lbs
-Take 1 inch off waist
-No cheese during the challenge
-At least 2 dedicated sprint workoutsPosted 6 months ago # -
My challenge for the month is to fine tune my primal eating and cut way back on my alcohol consumption, it being my sugar of choice. I want to continue in the fat loss process and stay focused on my exercise. Basically I want to take all the healthy things I have started doing and secure them as a permanent way of living.

I'm looking to lose more of my spare tire and build muscle. Simple as that.
I will also be doing this challenge with two friends and are hoping to get our gym involved with our own version later this month.

I'm already obsessed with food and (grudging) exercise, IF, etc.
It follows that my biggest primal trouble spots are 1) stress management (maybe) and 2) a seemingly complete inability to play.
So my personal primal challenge is lightening up and (somehow) working daily play into my life. Any help or advice would be appreciated, because I have NO IDEA how I'm going to do this!

I have been "lurking" and reading here for awhile, but have never posted. This challenge is a way for me to start eating/living paleo in earnest. The grocery store has been replaced with the farmers market and the park will be my gym. I'm 34 years old, 5'10" 230#. Not sure how much weight I'll lose over a month but my ultimate goal is to get down around 180#. I'll start a journal next and track food and exercise, hopefully pics too.

My Challenge goals:
-- add 2-5 lbs of lean mass or more if possible, already thin enough :-), while maintaining lower bf
-- Stay off the acid reflux meds (primal helped me ditch the dreaded Nexium so far!)
-- Convert our son to a more primal intakePosted 6 months ago # -
My challenge is also to fine tune my diet. Mostly to really learn and listen to my body's hunger cues. I have a very hard time leaving food on my plate even when it's just the last few bites that I don't want, so I'm going to work on that. Stop when you're full!
This should help me eat a bit less overall and finally drop the last few pounds. Good luch everyone!

My challenge is to convert 5 people over to the "Primal" lifestyle. I'll admit that I've had a head start but I won't count those people that are already on the path.
Those people that I bring into the fold have to go ALL IN. That includes reading The Primal Blueprint, logging on to MDA, posting their own goals, and start keeping a journal.
This challenge could be the start of something HUGE.
GROK ON!!!

Hey
A good friend of mine has been enjoying the primal lifestyle and I've been very interested in starting it myself. I'm 24 years old, female, Mother to a beautiful little girl and our doggie. :) I haven't started a journal yet but will be later today when I get some time. My long term goal is to lose about 20 pounds, but about 5 pounds during this challenge.
I like to feel connected to my body and soul, and I think this will help me with that and be good for me. I'm pretty excited!
If anyone has suggestions on exercise/play that they do with their dog (other than walking and jogging we do plenty of that) on this lifestyle that would be great and very appreciated!
Thanks for reading PEACE.

Hey all, My goal is to focus on sticking to laws 2-6 a little bit better. A little more consistency.
Posted 6 months ago # -
Goal: if I can't grow it or kill it, I am not gonna eat it!
Posted 6 months ago # -
My goal is to become healthier and not be embarrassed to wear a two-piece at the beach! My main challenge will be keeping up with the exercise portion, which I have never done before.
Posted 6 months ago # -
My goal is to fine tune my primal eating and stop eating toast, potatoes and Diet Pepsi! I already cut back on the soda from 3-5 20oz bottles a DAY to 3-4 a week, but I want to cut back to maybe 1-2 a MONTH.
And to go lift heavy things at the gym at LEAST twice a week, preferably 3 x a week.Posted 6 months ago # -
Hello all. I have a primal journal around here that I haven't updated in some time, but will begin to do that for the challenge.
My goals are:
1. See a weight of 135 or lower (I am 140 currently)
2. Lift heavy 3x per week
3. No sweets or refined sugars
4. Limit dairy consumption to 1 small serving daily
5. Support local farmersPosted 6 months ago # -
I've been following the Primal Blueprint since January and am down about 25 lbs to my total body goal weight - feel remarkably better, as compared to before PB , etc. But I want to go further.
This challenge is perfectly timed for me to take the PB to the next level. Here are my goals:
(1) Eat 100% primal - no cheating - keep carbs around 75g/day and try to blast through the last bit of belly fat that I've been fighting with. (Maybe even expose some of those abdominal muscles.) This will require a bit more food prep organization on my part.
(2) Primal exercise every day - weight-training, sprinting in my Vibram Five Fingers, walking/hiking, etc.
(3) Increase the "Play" portion of my lifestyle - I think I'll get a good frisbee and try to entice my kids to go play frisbee in the park every day or so.

My goal for the month is to work on the food related laws. I'm currently battling a flare up of plantar fasciitis in *both* feet and am caring for a parent who has been hospitalized. So my goal is to control those things I can (food, sleep, etc.)
Long term I am looking to fully integrate all of the laws into my life, ultimately helping me to gain great health and lose weight. (I am currently 5'7" and 224 pounds...)
I look forward to learning from everyone here and achieving my goals.

I've been living pretty primal for the past 2-3 months now... prior to that I was still maintaining a healthy lifestyle according to "conventional wisdom" and was in good shape. But back in March, my wife was diagnosed with Celiac Disease and forced her to eliminate all gluten from her diet... I wanted to support her as much as possible and so our entire house became gluten free,... however, I was still eating whole wheat bread when away from our house. Then two months later a friend of ours introduced us to MDA and I recognized Mark from the P90x dvds... Reading on made me realize the truth and it helped me turn the switch on in my brain to go primal... I was initially contemplating whether I should, or even needed to switch to the primal way. I mean, I had lost over 50 lbs on conventional wisdom and thought I was pretty healthy overall... my cholesterol was down,.. my excercise routines were good and I ate small meals six times a day. So I was pondering whether I should give it a try...needless to say, I did, and I've been able to eat about 80%- 90% primal ever since and have been able to drop my body fat from 10-12% to about 7-9%, and lost another 10 lbs, I sleep better, sprint faster, and jump higher and just feel better overall... Today I feel like I'm living primal and pretty optimal for my body. I'm 5'8" and weight 165lbs.
For the next 30days.. I want to see if I can trim another 5 lbs... and possibly drop my body fat another 1-2%. And I've been attempting to increase my vertical jump by another 3-4 inches by using plyometrics and weight training.
For food indulgences, I will limit my red mango cravings to only once a week along with only 1 beer a week or less.
The next 30 days are going to be awesome!!! GROK ON!!!

I have two goals:
#1. Gain 5lb muscle (now 186 @ 20%bf)
-- Eat all primal 'cept one cheat meal on "date night" with my sweetie
-- 2 on, 1 off exercise schedule (DLs/pullups/dips & sprint/medball)#2. Get my father to live Primal
-- Get him hooked on this challenge
-- Send him Mark's book
-- Check in with him daily(he's 56 and though he's lost weight on Weight Watchers, he's lost a lot of muscle as well.)

I put this in a journal already, but here goes. I spent the last 8 days re-reading (and in some cases re-re-reading) The Primal Blueprint. During those 8 days, I've been grain and sugar free. Here are my goals:
1) Remain grain and sugar free for the month.
2) Cut back on dairy
3) Cut back on artificial sweeteners
4) I'm good at getting plenty of sleep, but stick with this.
5) More time playing with my kids rather than just structured exercise.
6) More variety in my workouts.
7) Remain alcohol free - not really related to primal eating, but something I've needed to do recently.
8) Oh yeah, drop some fat mass - 6 pounds plus or minus.DML

i'm so excited about this. i've been eating primal for about 2 weeks now and the difference in my energy level and joint pain is amazing. i have three main goals for this challenge; 1. i want to gain as much explosive power and muscle mass as i can 2. i want to incorporate daily, active, outside play with my son 3. i want to get two people on board with this program, one of which if my carb-addicted 13 yr. old son and the other is my carb-addicted best friend. (if i can get a pizza eating teenager to adopt this...even half-way, i'll feel like a success!) as far as keeping a journal, i'll be doing it at http://www.jennythecavegirl.blogspot.com
by the way, primaljewishamericanprincess, RIGHT ON!!!!
