  1. DR everything is going okay EXCEPT that I have felt completely nauseated lately... it's no good. :( No vomiting but I feel like if I just did throw up I'd feel better... but I HATE throwing up, so I'm avoiding it at all costs. heh. Yesterday I felt a little better after eating an apple with honey, but then I got too optimistic and ate some nuts and then I felt worse. :(

Maba, I'm so glad you liked the sausage! Did you see my "spicy version"? You might like that one... no syrup in that one, and there's chili powder (mmm).

  2. Also, I'm hungry... yesterday I had some scrambled eggs with squash/zucchini but it felt weird in my stomach, and then 2 apples w/honey, then some nuts...

But nothing sounds good and we're out of apples.
Maybe a pickle? I've heard some people say sour things make upset stomachs feel better.

Salt and vinegar chips would be awesome right now but obviously I'm not going to do that. And I can't find any S&V pork rinds. I'm so sad! I found them ONCE and they were so good... but never saw them in any store since then.

  3. Just checking in from my phone real quick. Ginger helps nausea. :)

I missed seeing the spicy version. Infact as I was cooking it, I was wondering if I should add some cayenne but I thought it was better to leave the recipe as is. Will look for the spicy one.

  5. maba here's the spicy one. http://www.joyfulabode.com/2009/09/20/pork-breakfast-sausage-spicy-version/

DR I tried so much ginger when I was feeling gross the last time, and it didn't really seem to help... but I have read that peppermint can help too, so maybe I'll ask my husband to pick up some peppermint tea on the way home.

    Posted 3 months ago #
  6. Oh yeah, peppermint is much yummier than ginger too. :) I hope it works!

    Posted 3 months ago #
  7. Well the peppermint tea worked long enough for me to be optimistic and actually cook and eat dinner. It was SO good.
Baked chicken thighs (skin on of course, extra crispy skin) with cauli-rice and a chicken-lemon-cream gravy in the rice... which I made from homemade chicken stock. Mmmm.

And then a bit later I started to get queasy again. :( Bummer. Today my husband got my paperwork for the medical stuff in order (I don't know why 1-the military can't transfer spouse records like they do servicemember records, and 2-why I can't set it up myself; it has to be set up/signed by the "sponsor") so tomorrow morning we're going to try to get me an appointment so I can see what's up.

Though I'm always suspicious of doctors and never think they can help me... I mean, I don't have a fever so it's not likely a bacterial infection of any sort. It's been several days so we're not looking at food poisoning. I don't really have any other symptoms (other than a sore shoulder because somehow I popped it out of joint yesterday morning - OUCH)... not sure what it could possibly be.

My mother thinks I'm pregnant. So does my Costa Rican friend - who told me I should take up quilting. WTF?
I don't think I am, but that would be a GREAT reason to be sick.

  8. I hate to say it, I thought "pregnancy" too but I didn't want to say anything. Hehe... your own little Pebbles or BamBam. :P

I'm glad the tea helped. I bet they have some really good ones out on the shelves with Christmas coming. Just keep sipping it, at least until you can get into the doc.

Chicken thighs sounds so yummy, but I'm a dunce at cooking chicken right. The skin never gets crispy. What am I doing wrong?

Keep us up on what happens at the doctor. :)

You know, I had about 3 days in a row of highly uncomfortable nausea a few weeks ago, similar to what you're describing. And then it just went away, and I never really figured it out. I'm not pregnant, though I posted that I felt bad on FB and started quite the stir...you can't be in your 20's, married, and feel sick without the world thinking you're pregnant apparently.

I hope you start feeling better soon!

    Posted 3 months ago #
  10. I can chime in on that one too - it happened to me last week. It's possible that there are a few bugs around. My colleague had a few days off work with a flu-type virus and he said he started off with nausea too. I also had diarrhea too - it was nasty. Fine now though - but you are right to get it checked out. Be well!

  11. DR with the chicken, I've tried a few things including broiling for a couple minutes at the end of baking... the best thing that works for me is to pre-brown the skin in a skillet while the oven is preheating, then it has a head start on getting crispy. Works like a charm.

Hannah, that's kind of funny that everyone thought you were pregnant too. Glad you're feeling better.
And PrimalK, sorry you got sick feeling too! :(

Going to the doctor in half an hour. Honestly I'd love it if I'm pregnant... but trying not to get my hopes up (again). At least it would be a good reason for feeling like crap.

  12. In that case I'll cross my fingers for you!

  13. Just came back from the doc. Pregnancy is the only idea he entertained (he said he wouldn't even know what else to test for since I don't have a fever and really no other symptoms), and got me to pee in a cup. No results from the lab yet.

    Posted 3 months ago #
  14. *fingers crossed*

    Posted 3 months ago #
  15. Damn it, doctor... call me!
It's been three and a half hours since I peed in the cup. And the lab guy said it would only take an hour.

In this time I could've bought and taken my own test, but I'm too cheap to do that when there's a perfectly good free one at the doc waiting for them to call me.

And I want to know whether to be angry that I'm sick for no reason with a doctor who has no ideas about what to do for it, or excited because a little child is tormenting me.

Why didn't they just have you pee on a stick?!?!?! Or pour it on a stick from the cup, results in 3 minutes or less. The anticipation is getting to me too DR :)

Newbie around here shamelessly watching.... Just an fyi the Dollar Stores carry pregnancy test for $1 (of course) and the actual sensitivity levels on them are higher than the fancy expensive tests. In case you have one of those handy!

    Posted 3 months ago #
  20. No news and Hannah I was wondering the same thing. Now medical is closed so I won't hear anything till tomorrow at the earliest. Still feel like crap and I want to know why and what to do about it.

    Posted 3 months ago #
  21. I'd have had my butt to the drug store hours ago. :P

    Posted 3 months ago #
  22. So I just jumped in on the thread, and now Im dying to know!!! Haha, Ill be checking tmw morning FNW!!!

    Posted 3 months ago #
  23. Y'all are funny. I appreciate the co-anticipation. Please keep it here and not on facebook though.

Hubby is off to the store to get bananas and apples (two things that didn't bother me). And he is also picking up a couple tests. I know you are supposed to do them in the morning but I figure if I am and that's what is making me feel THIS sick it would probably show up. I'll take another one in the morning if it's negative.

I want it to be positive so much. Would love to grow a sweet baby. And would also like a good reason to feel like crap. I know that's silly but it would make it a lot more bearable.

    Posted 3 months ago #
  24. I've often thought how strange it is, that people can form bonds and share lives through nothing more than a computer screen and a keyboard. I just find that really neat. :P

I'm really hoping it's positive. I actually don't like kids much- maybe it's just strangers' kids that annoy me- but my nephew and his wife are expecting and there's just something about the whole experience I'm learning to love and appreciate. Granted, being pregnant doesn't look like any fun at this point, it's not something I've completely written off anymore. I just can't help but think how cool it is, that you can essentially "build" another human being. That you can make a person is just... well, it's "wow." :)

Hehehe... if it's a girl we'll call her Pebbles. :P

  25. Y'all I just got a phone call from the doctor. :-D
Sent husband in to return the pregnancy tests and get some prenatal vitamins (he's still at the store).

I'm so excited! I honestly thought that when we wanted to get pregnant that it would take more than a year, because of my weird irregular periods. So that's part of why I guess we weren't so "careful." And who would've thought that we'd get pregnant this quickly?

Please do NOT post anything on facebook or on my website or anywhere but here... I'd really appreciate it since I want to tell my friends and family when the time seems right. Not doing a phone marathon tonight or anything.

  27. OMG! Yayayayayaya! *Snoopy Dance*

That's so freakin' awesome. What happens at MDA stays at MDA. ;)

Congratulations! I'm so happy for you!

  28. Thank you! I can't wait for hubs to get home so I can hug him and make him dinner which I won't eat (haha).

Thanks DR! :-D I'm so glad I could share this with y'all "as it happens."

Also really glad there's a good reason I feel crummy.

OH MY GOODNESS!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!! Wow that's so exciting :) And no worries about FB, I already know that place goes WILD over nothing (like I mentioned before with my nausea comment a couple of weeks ago). Whenever I get pregnant I won't post it on FB at all for a while I think, that's no way for family to find out!

Did you have any other "tell-tale symptoms," or just the constant sickly feeling? We'll be excited to see how you do through the whole pregnancy!
