  1. I have a burlap bag filled with yummy brown rice!!! You can have it for free! ;-)

Actually, now that I think of it, what a great rainy-day/ no-gym day workout.

    Nevermind, It's all mine! ;-P

Hmm... I bet I can find something cheap on ebay, or Salvation Army. LOL Sassa- there ya go!

B: IF - I kinda like skipping breakfast. Would it hurt to do this all the time? I'm not really that hungry then anyways.

L: Chocolate coconut milk (coconut milk and chocolate whey protein powder.)

D: MEAT FEAST! 3 fried eggs, 7 strips of bacon and 4 ounces of ham steak.

    13g of carbs.

No workout really... again. I've been so lazy lately. I wanted to go for a walk but OMG it's so windy and cold. I'm definitely going tomorrow so I can ask about those apples.

My nephew's wife asked me to run a marathon with her next October. At first I accepted but once I got thinking about it, the less I wanted to do it. I don't want to deal with the training that it involves. Her motivation is to lose her baby weight, so I offered to have her join me as a workout buddy. That way I can have some company, and whip her butt into shape Primal style.

  3. Good lookin' food day! I feel your pain on the exercise front.

Maybe it's the impending winter months. I just want to cuddle up under my fuzzy sheets and sleep in. Cuddle up on the couch with a warm drink and watch a movie.

I think that's great about working out with your friend though! Unfortunately, marathon trainees are soooooo focused on training by running miles and miles and miles and miles a day!!!! They don't want to hear about slow/ steady cardio. For them, since they will be running long distance, they think the only way to acclimate their bodies is to torture it with the very same thing that it will endure the day of the race :-( That usually leads to injuries. I can't tell you HOW many Facebook friends I have, who train religiously for a marathon, only to end up with an injury within a few short weeks of the event!

    Crap. I've been slacking.

OMG, the Goddess provides. You would not believe the harvest of goodies I got this weekend. Besides the grapes and blueberries my sister gave to me, I ended up with all the wild apples I can handle, assorted squashes, and black walnuts!

I canned some of the apples today, but ran out of jars. I have to pick up more. I also have to start processing the walnuts tomorrow- removing the rind, washing and drying. Much of the squash will get frozen I think.

I'm working up some ideas that Jocelyn and I can do after the baby's born. I figure we can realistically start working out in early spring, though I'll be doing that all winter long.

Get this- my gym hit me with a $20 fee. As if I wasn't already looking for a reason to quit. Seems like when my bank issued me a new card it messed up my automatic debit- so I'm going to go over tomorrow and ask for the fee back. If they say no, I'm going to request they cancel my membership. If they say yes, I'll wait a couple of weeks and then cancel. I really like sleeping in mornings and waking up without a screeching alarm. I just have to make sure I get my slow cardio in- which shouldn't be a problem once I'm working 2 jobs (one at a factory and the other in a kitchen. Lots and lots of moving around.) Til then, I have to make sure I do my walks, and get used to the cold. Next month I'll be able to start taking my gym money and putting it toward my own equipment. :)

Off to bed for a good sleep. After IFing breakfast all week and feeling fine, I think I might just make that my routine. I guess that means the difference between survival week and normal weeks would be carb intake. Should save on some groceries too. Looking forward to a huge pound and a half chuck steak for dinner tomorrow (or as much of it as I can eat in one sitting.)

Wow that's amazing that you got all of that! What are you going to do with the canned apples?

I'm switching over to two meals a day as well, it finally clicked with me last week. I started with 2 meals/day Saturday the 3rd, and even did my first 24 hr fast from Saturday the 10th at 10:00 am to Sunday at 10:00 am! I'm eating normal calorie amounts, and still mostly carnivore meals, and the scale dropped twice last week, a total of 4 pounds! But mostly it's awesome to not have to bring a bunch of food to work, and the fridge isn't being emptied as quickly :) Survival weeks will be interesting from now on...I guess I'll have to cut out the almond butter then!

  6. I've never canned. But then again, I can't imagine what I'd use canned items for. If anything, I just vacuum-seal and freeze....

The apples are just canned in water, so I can use them for just about anything really- anything from making apple pie to just eating them.

Well, I failed going with 2 meals today. At the last minute I piled a bowl high with blueberries and plopped a bunch of ricotta cheese on top. OMG, that's SO good. I'm glad the ricotta's all gone- for now.

Lunch was a quick fry of eggs and zucchini, with ricotta cheese. I've been eating the hell out of that stuff.

Dinner was fabulous. I gigantic chuck steak, half a hybrid acorn/butternut squash, and a wild apple for dessert. Oh, and a glass of brambleberry wine. I cut off a chuck of steak and set aside the other half of the squash for lunch tomorrow. I think if I get into the routine of cooking for dinner and setting aside lunch, I won't even need to fire up the kitchen in the morning anymore- unless I want breakfast.

I still have oodles of apples to get taken care of. I was thinking about chunking them up and sticking them in the dehydrator for trail mix.

Holy crap... almost 10:00. It's bed time!

  8. Brambleberry wine? How is that? I'm not sure I even know what a Brambleberry tastes like.

I didn't know you could just can things in plain ol' water, so now I understand a bit more.

I got some apples from my free-range chikens/ raw milk farmer at 6 for $1.00. They were perfect. That price sure beats buying Organic at the local supermarket! Highway robbery!

I like the dehydrator idea. I should look around craigslist for one....

  11. Hey did you ever get your boss to work around the training hours that you needed for the restaurant?

    Posted 1 month ago #
  12. How are your wild apples? Some that I've had range from good to "spit it out, now!".

I envy your canning stamina! Can't stand to can & was so glad this summer when I went no sugar so I wouldn't have to feel guilty about not making a ton of jam. I do have 6 gallons of frozen blueberries, though!

    Doing better staying warm?

  13. Holy crap Deb! 6 Gallons of Blueberries? Call me jealous!

    Argh! It ate my post!

Ok, since I already typed this once, you all get the abbreviated version.

    ***

Brambleberry Wine is a mixed-berry wine by Hazlitt 1852 Vinyards, one of our local wineries. Hazlitt also makes one of my other favorite wines- Red Cat. If you can find Finger Lakes wines, I highly recommend them both.

I don't know about my vacation time yet. I know I'm taking the time, I just don't know what my boss will have to say about it.

The apples are delicious. I've decided they're Granny Smith apples. That's sorta what they look and taste like. OMG, so good.

Staying pretty warm. My apartment is toasty though from all the canning and steam.

I had a successful food day today. :)

    B: IF

L: Boss-man ordered pizza for everyone but I skipped out and had steak and squash instead, and an apple.

D: Was supposed to be pork sausage but the ground pork is still mostly frozen. Blended leftover pumpkin guts with eggs for pumpkin scrambled eggs, topped with home-made ketchup. Not gourmet, but edible.

And a glass of brambleberry wine for dessert. I think my body has gotten too used to running on too few calories, so it's time to hit the reset button. Hopefully my weight stays stable and when I do Survival Week I can burn more fat.

6 gallons of blueberries huh? I have close to 20 cups... all in small freezer bags, frozen. Can be pulled out and used whenever. :)

OK, I really, really need lots of prayers and helpful wishes. I'm hoping to look at a really amazing apartment tomorrow. It's a 1-bedroom upper in an old farm house. Dishwasher, garbage disposal, fireplace, large rooms, nice kitchen. Also 95-acres of useable land, including hunting and my very own garden. Rent is in my budget too! Only $465 plus heat and electric. I really, really want this apartment to work out for me, so help me pretty, pretty please!

    Thanks guys! I got it!

OMG, this place is so awesome. The decor is a bit dated, but it totally fits my old 70's-ish furniture. LOL. The only downside is that there are outdoor steps- which will get snowy and icy in the winter- so I better get used to the cold.

I'm totally freaking out now. I just paid $465 for a deposit, and I need $465 for 1st month's rent. A deposit for my heat, and 2 weeks "leftover" rent for my current apartment. (On top of paying $600 for tires next week.) OMG, I don't know if I can pull this off. I've gotta talk to my current landlord and see if they can just bill me later since I've been a total angel on paying rent and everything. Ahhh! I want to scream! Both excitement, fear and the angst of having to pack and move. Ahhh!

    OK... focus.

    B: IF

L: Venison chili (Primal of course), wild apple and coconut milk latte

D: Still cooking- pork sausage stuffed acorn squash

I'm totally having a glass of wine. I'm starting to like my nightly glass. :)

I wish somebody would just hand me $1000 as a security buffer- lol.

I don't know. I was hoping so but I tried to be subtle. That didn't work, so maybe I'll have to break down and actually ask my mom outright. I hate the idea of doing that- lol.

    Posted 1 month ago #
  26. I hate doing it too. In fact, I would have to be VERY hard pressed to ask the parental units for moolah. But maybe it could be a loan and you would pay them back.

SO excited for you! I have like, 20 steps up to my house that are a little terrifying in the winter...I'd recommend buying a bag of salt.

And how weird is it that I bought acorn squash last weekend to make sausage stuffed acorn squash this week too? I think we channel the same food wavelength :)
