Diana, I was thinking of you on my run this morning... don't you miss it?? I'm not talking about being a competitive athlete or doing 3 marathons a year... just some basic 5-8 mile runs???
I have plans to to lift, strengthen my feet and ankles, and add some primal stuff, but I just cannot imagine not running. You lost most of your weight while running and eating low carb... you claim to still have a small roll (that none of us can see by your fabulous success story photos)... don't you think running would "shake things up" a bit?
Your new apartment sounds wonderful! 95 acres to walk and have fun... so jealous!Posted 5 months ago # -
I hear ya on the money! 1st, last, deposit! I don't want to move again just because of how much money gets sucked up! Eeeek!
Congratulations though!

hannah- That is strange. I wonder what we're having for dinner tomorrow? Are you thinking pork chops?
maba- A raise would be wonderful! I'm looking at moving at the exact same time I start training for my part-time job, which means NO TIME to move. This is gonna be tricky, but hopefully this 2nd job works out and I will have plenty of money. :)
Marie- I do miss running some, and I still run occasionally, but I really don't miss doing it every day. Usually I just pick up and run for the heck of it, though never for really long distances. Maybe I'll get back to it eventually. There are trails on my new property, so maybe I'll run some trails this summer. :)
I ate too much today, but it tasted SO good.
B: Chocolate! A serving of Green & Black's 85%
L: Acorn squash stuffed with pork sausage.
S: The last of my Green & Black's chocolate.
D: Broccoli & cauliflower with shallots and pine nuts, pork steak.
S: Apple with raisins and almond butter, a glass of wine.
One of my ratties is dying. He rarely eats, even when I try to give him baby food. He's so skinny and weak. I wish I had some way of making this easier for him, or speeding up the process. *sigh* It's just a matter of time. I just hate seeing him like this. I think after these 4 pass I'm done with rats. They live and die so quickly. That's too many deaths over the years. I've had 12 of them now, and it never gets easier. It seems like by the time I get to know their little personalities, they age and die. I hate it.
I really should start packing, or something. I hate to think that I'll wait til the last minute, but it's what I always end up doing. Not this time. Not this time. Not this time.

Hahaha DR I have tenderloin pork chops in the freezer right now! I'm going out of town this weekend, so they got pushed back to next week...but they were supposed to be for tomorrow. Creepy :)
I'm sorry about your rat, I don't think I could deal with that either. My dogs should live for a long time (especially now that they're primal too!), but I will be so heartbroken when they go.
Start packing slowly! Start boxes whenever you have time, with the things you really don't need every day first. I hate moving too, this is the first time my hubby and I have lived anywhere for more than a year (moved every year in college, finally have been settled for more than 2 years now!). Once half your stuff is packed up it'll be a breeze to do the rest :)

It's been totally hectic.
So... Lucky passed away thursday night. I sat with him most of the evening since he wouldn't eat anything. I got tired and decided to take him in on my bed. I laid with him against my chest, in my hand. When I was dozing off I dreamt/felt him pass. It woke me up and I actually felt his body get tingly. It was so strange, yet reassuring. I took him up to my parents' house yesterday to bury him.
We ended up getting chinese food. I probably could have ate better, but I didn't get lo mein or anything. Triple delight (beef, chicken and pork) in garlic sauce. No rice. Dad ordered a po po platter, so I snagged a rib, a chicken wing, 2 "cat-on-a-stick" (beef sticks), and 2 crab rangoon.
Feeling a tad guilty about stuffing myself, I IFed most of the day. I finished off the last little bit of chinese around 4 today, then made some almond butter and ate some with an apple. I also got some really expensive aged goat cheese from the Co-Op today (only $1.00 worth at about $13/lb) and ate about half of that- so probably about an ounce. It's very, very rich. I'm feeling pretty full still, but I think if I get hungry I'll fry up a couple eggs. I'm kind of craving them.
I've started packing. I got 4 boxes done (cleaned out my closet and wardrobe.) I have 3 boxes to fill tomorrow then I need to get more boxes. I'm gonna end up filling dozens, I have so much stuff. Ugh. I wish I could afford a moving service.
There's more I intended to write but my brain is so tired, I've forgotten it. I know there was something. I'll probably remember it later.

UPDATE:
OK I think I'm going to extend the Survival Week mentality another week, since I'm living out of boxes until I get moved. Today wasn't a very "Survival" day though.
2 pickles
A cheese cube
Venti decaff breve w/ heavy cream, sugar-free vanilla and caramel syrup
Chicken wing with about 3 tbs bleu cheese
Not really sure what's in line for supper. I've just been nibbling. The venti breve is a meal in and of itself.
* * * * * *
On non-food stuff:
I can start moving in to my apartment possibly tomorrow. Otherwise thru the week. Moving party on Sunday. :)
Would you believe I haven't even started working at Texas Roadhouse yet, and they already gave me a promotion and a raise. Instead of doing salad line, I'll be Point, making sure all the meals are put together properly. It's 25 cents more per hour too. :)
Gotta clean for the cat lady tomorrow. Not sure how long I'm going to be able to keep doing that job.
I've also decided I AM getting a Flemish Giant rabbit when the time is right.

Congratulations on the promotion. I think I need to participate in another round of Survival week, I've been grazing all day. I'm better off on weekdays when I don't have access to snacks all day at work. Good luck with the move.

Craving averted!
I was craving some apple pie and/or pumpkin ice cream so bad. I managed to keep myself away from the ice cream shop until they closed. I was wanting something sweet and juicy, but couldn't bring myself to buy any produce at Walmart. They didn't even have the labret retainer I was looking for. No wonder I don't shop there anymore.
I sorta did a Survivor day today. I pretty much skipped breakfast and lunch. Grabbed a couple nibbles of cooked blood or scraps when cooking this week's worth of meat. I cooked up kidney, liver, pork steaks, sausage and a ham steak. That should hold me for the week.
Got to my parents house and snagged a boar sausage patty, a chunk of garlic cheddar, and an uncounted amount of mixed nuts. I'm not really hungry now so I'm having some water with stevia.
Started moving into the new apartment, finally. Yay! I have training tomorrow for the restaurant. I'm SO nervous. I hope I do ok. I just have to keep reminding myself, "I can do anything. I can do anything. I can do anything."

Rabbit as a pet? I've known some people who keep them as pets, they seem to like them. I'm REALLY allergic to them though (and to angora sweaters, they give me immediate hives!), so I just stick with the pups :)
And you CAN do anything, have an awesome first week at the restaurant!
Posted 4 months ago # -
Ooh, good luck with everything! I am sure you will be fine.
I'm with you on the Survivor week - it looks as if I was doing everything but what was required in your first post for last week, except only using what you have in your store cupboard/fridge. I like to buy things and eat them fresh - we don't have a massive freezer either. But other than that, I'm with you!
I've been IFing a lot since I first started on the IF journey mid last week. I love it.
Posted 4 months ago # -
Hope the training goes well Diana. Sorry to read about Lucky :( Have you thought about a cat?? though I love rabbits too ;) Can't wait to see some photos of the new apartment :)

I survived today.
Went in on OT 2 hours early. 6:30 am.
Left an hour early to go to Texas roadhouse. 4:00 pm.
Worked Texas Roadhouse from 4:30 pm to 11:30 pm.
Tired.
B: IF
L: 3 eggs, large pork steak.
D: Half IF. They gave us some really tasty prime rib to try though.
Too tired to eat. Not hungry. Going to bed. Thank the gods no OT at the day job tomorrow. Will post more tomorrow.
Zzzz....

Oh wow, what a day for you! I hope you slept well...
Posted 4 months ago # -
Ugh... I didn't. It was a horrible night's sleep. I'm gonna have to talk to one of the managers about being OUT by 10pm. I can't be doing these shifts til midnight. I'm really, really glad I'm skipping out on the day job 2 hours early today, even if it is to take care of moving business.
Posted 4 months ago # -
I sometimes find that if I've had an extra busy/stressful/challenging day, I'm too wound up to sleep.
I hope you get to leave earlier and have a good rest tonight.

I think that's what happened to me. My brain just wouldn't stop reeling with everything that happened during training. It just wouldn't calm down.
I had a short day today. Cut out of work 2 hours early and got some moving business done (set up my heat, changed address at the bank, dmv, etc.) Started to pack more and ran out of tape.
Fell asleep a little while ago. The nap felt wonderful and I really zonked out. Now I'm too awake and I have to work in the morning, and another day of training tomorrow night. I really *really* hope I can keep up with both jobs without getting burned out. I need to talk to a manager about getting out at a decent hour.
I ate a lot today. After eating nearly nothing yesterday, I was starving for breakfast.
B: Large piece of liver meatloaf with home-made ketchup, 2 eggs.
L: Boar sausage and 3 eggs, scrambled together.
D: Snapping turtle, 3 ways, squirrel and butternut squash. I could have done without the bbq sauce on the snapping turtle and squirrel, but I didn't cook it, so... it is what it is.
Various snacks today too. A few almonds, a bit of aged ricotta. Not exactly on my best behavior for Survival Week Part II, but I'll manage. Getting back to IFing breakfast tomorrow. They're feeding us at the restaurant tomorrow, so I hope I can get by on Primal options. It won't be carnivore I'm sure.
I can't wait to get moved. *sigh*

Life is... insane. I can't wait to get moved.
Work has me out from 8:30 am til about midnight. Hopefully it'll only be a few nights a week. I'm hoping to get next week's schedule tonight. We have a rally tonight before things get going. I'm not sure if there will be food so I haven't actually eaten dinner.
B: IF
L: 3 eggs, scrambled. Beef kidney.
D: ? I had an apple with lots of almond butter, so I'm not really hungry for a meal.
They did feed us at the restaurant last night. Not Carnivore, but still tasty. We each got a turn to leave the line and go eat. Walk out into the dining room and they said to pick any plate and enjoy. Nearly everything was something fried, or a variation of potato. I managed to find a reasonable looking steak (which was over-cooked for my liking) and a sweet potato. Unfortunately it was covered in marshmallow goo. I scooped it out and set it to the side and ate the potato and steak. Not bad. I get a free meal on Saturday night, but this time it'll be what I want. I'm thinkin' prime rib.
Not really much else to report. Life is pretty much work and sleep right now.
Posted 4 months ago # -
How'd you end up cooking that kidney?
Posted 4 months ago # -
I let it soak in salt/vinegar water over night, cut it into chunks and sauted it in some fat, a bit of bone broth, a squeeze of honey and some cayenne pepper. Actually turned out quite good and the sauce came out like a nice brown gravy.
No food at the rally tonight. I wasn't actually hungry but I ate the remainder of my chili I had in the fridge. I'd forgotten how long it was in there, which is a sign it needed to get ate.
Kind of in a funk about my lack of fat loss and lack of exercise lately. I can't wait to have some sense of "normal" again.
I cannot stay away from the almond butter today. Dammit.

Real quick check in. I seriously need to find a way to relax after working a shift at the restaurant.
B: IF
L: Huge slice of liver meatloaf and 3 eggs. Yucky organic ketchup. I'll never buy that stuff again. WAY too sweet. (Don't have any ingredients or appliances to make my own ketchup right now. I hate moving.)
D: IF
I am sort of hungry, but I'm too tired to really make (or eat) any food. After looking at food all night, I'm really not inclined to eat anything. I'll probably have a huge breakfast in the morning.

Hey DR. Sorry I haven't been here in a long time... just read the last page to catch up. I'm sorry about your rat. :( They are sweet animals.
Sounds like you are keeping busy and TIRED... hope you get some rest soon! And moving doesn't help... plus the expense of it all. ugh. We spent $6500 total on our move, including all the extra rent/move out costs, deposit, utility set up fees, moving truck, dollies and furniture blankets and such... ew.
Posted 4 months ago # -
Luckily I don't have a ton of extra costs, other than making rent and paying 2 electric bills for 2 weeks.
Tired is right, and yet I can't sleep! I took a hot bath and tried to relax. I just laid in bed for half an hour trying to get to sleep, and my mind keeps going back to clanking dishes and the yelling that goes on in the kitchen. I had to keep reminding myself that I'm 20 miles away from the restaurant, that my shift is DONE. I don't even have any calming music because everything's in freakin' boxes, split between 2 houses. Grrrr!
So now I have FOX News on, since that's the calmest thing I can find. Dammit. I need to sleep. I'm supposed to clean for the cat lady in 6 hours. I'm getting desperate to the point of opening a bottle of wine.
Posted 4 months ago # -
Sometimes you just have to choose your poison. The way I look at it is, I can have this glass of merlot...it may stall my progress, but it will taste really good and help me relax a little, or I can force myself to be stoic and miserable, raise my cortisol levels, not sleep, which raises my cortisol levels and stresses me out which leads to...well, you get it. Point is, eventually I am going to have that glass of wine, the question is, how much am I going to put my body through before I do? You've had a shitty week! I am not enabling you, just suggesting that you are an awesome primal chick who knows the rules and rarely, if ever, cheats. You know when to say when. Have that glass of wine tonight, soak your feet in some epsom salts, and ahhhh, relax!
Posted 4 months ago # -
Thanks PJAP, that's exactly what I needed to hear. Sometimes I have to be reminded not to be too strict with myself. I'm a natural disciplinarian. Now if only I hadn't packed up all my wine! I think I'll pick up a couple favorites. It'll be a nice reward after a hard day of work. I just have to remind myself not to drink the whole bottle- lol.
Posted 4 months ago # -
I am also going to have a glass (or maybe two) tonight while I pass out crap at Trick or Treat. I see it as a nice compromise. I could eat the crap, or treat myself to a glass and all I can eat chicken wings! What is your favorite? Mine is Coppola merlot. I also tried my first tempranillo a few weeks ago and it was awesome.
Posted 4 months ago # -
Hells yeah on the chicken wings!
I'm gonna lighten up this weekend. Heading up to the Ithaca Farmers Market where I'll enjoy an yummy macaroon, some apple cider, and maybe do some wine tasting. I have dinner tonight @ Texas Roadhouse (for free!) so I'll have prime rib and veggies, and cheesecake for dessert.
Tomorrow is the big moving day. I promised everyone pizza and wings for helping me out. I'll probably eat a dozen wings, and scarf up some pizza toppings. They rats can have the bread. :P

Holy crap, it's been a week since I posted on this thing. I can only imagine my poor, neglected blog. *shakes head*
It's been a really crazy week. I started the new job and it's been wild. Opening week for a new restaurant and all that. Between both jobs I'm pulling 75 hours a week. Ohh... and on top of everything, my day job gave me a 50-cent raise! Can you believe it!?
My eating has been less than superb, though still Primal. I'm going a bit carby today with some figs and a glass of (slightly fermented) apple cider. I made tongue, onion and apple soup yesterday. Lots of eggs and meat. The occasional veggie. My weight has been consistantly around 130, which is really irking me. I'm going to seriously start considering some cosmetic surgery. I've been doing weight loss and fitness for almost 3 years now and I'm tired. I just want to live, without trying to shrink skin and fat. I want to wear a bikini, and get my bellybutton pierced. Shoot, I want to wear a t-shirt and not worry that it might be too short and my wrinkly belly will peek out if I reach up too high. So yeah, that's been on my mind. I think if I can get some surgery done, maintaining my figure wouldn't be hard at all, especially with living Primal. :)
There was more I wanted to update on, but I can't really remember it. I can't wait to get my internet hooked up this week.

Wow, last night was an insane shift. We did $30,000 in sales last night. We slammed that food out like you wouldn't believe. It's getting better/easier. I hate closing though. We closed the doors at 11 and I didn't get home til 1:30.
Did score 3 roaster chickens (half chickens) that were going to be thrown out. Probably not 100% Primal (not sure what seasonings we use, and I'm guessing they're probably CAFO chickens), but I couldn't bear to see them thrown away. We throw away so much food at the end of the night. I just couldn't help but think that those chickens were killed and would have been thrown away. Is that crazy? So, I ate half of one (SO YUMMY!) and some ribs that they gave us. They were fall-off-the-bone yummy.
Sitting at the laundromat with just about an hour before work. Gotta grab some grub before shift. If I got time, maybe another half a roaster, but I'm gonna need some fat. I could really go for a venti breve right about now. I've been spending way too much money on extras lately. I'm usually such a penny pincher and it seems like working this extra job is turning me into a spender. Not good. I have to stay on track if I'm going to get my money stuff done. (And save for surgery.)
Posted 4 months ago # -
I feel the same way about spending lately... we should be getting a few thousand dollars for our move (since we moved ourselves instead of having the navy pay movers to do it, they reimburse us for a portion of what they would've spent) so we've been making some ...er...big purchases.
Bought a new TV and a PS3 (our DVD player died) and then some home networking stuff, plus all the little things we needed to make this house work for us (storage baskets and a shelf and stuff like that) and new desks (ours are old/ugly and one broke in the move).
It feels RIDICULOUS to be spending money like that. But I figure since we're in "baby steps 4-6" we can "afford" it... it's not like we're going into debt for it, and we're still saving for retirement and such. I just feel like it's irresponsible somehow and we should be saving MORE.
Posted 4 months ago # -
Oh man I wish I was at baby step 4. Technically I'm back at step 1 after my move. I had to dip into my emergency fund for moving so I have to put that money back, which should take a couple weeks. Then pay off my Sallie Mae, then I can do step 3 and then save for a few other essentials, then surgery. Shoot, I feel guilty right now for buying new drip pans for my stove! When it comes to money, diet, anything like that, I'm such a damn extremist- lol.
Today was nuts. I got up earlier than I should have so I could hurry and do some laundry. Needed shirts for work. Ran home real quick and inhaled a half a chicken and a breve (with sugar-free syrup) before work. Gonna eat my last half a chicken tonight I think, maybe with some coconut milk hot chocolate. Depends on how awake I am. Right now I'm sitting in front of a local bar in my car so I can tap into their wi-fi.
Tomorrow is going to be a LONG day so I doubt I'll check in. Work the day job from 8:30-5:00 then at the restaurant from 5:00 til close (about 1am.) Talk about being gazelle intense! Dave would be proud of me- lol.
Hey, you're on baby step 4. Enjoy it! It's your reward for being responsible. Remember... you lived like no-one else. NOW you can live like no one else!
