Maba it's SO GOOD!!!! I roasted mine in the oven with just some spices rubbed into the skin. I'd never made it before so I really wanted to taste the flavor of the meat. Mine was about 3 pounds, and I left it in for about an hour and 45 minutes, but it could have been in a bit longer. Still good though :) I'd say at least 2 hours at 350, covered, then 15-20 minutes uncovered to brown the skin. What do you say TT???

Well Ive only ever cooked duck breasts or thighs... apart from the whiole bird. WHICH IS WHY I WANT THIS DUCK SO BAD I CAN WELL... **NOT** TASTE IT. Ugh, okay. Anyway...
There is a beer tasting at JJs I am going to.
http://www.junglejims.com/events/tastings.asp
It starts at 7 so we will probably come earlier to shop. I have a mental list but I better write it down lest I forget and kick myself forever (or until next time).Oh and I def know my way around there.

Hey I could definitely meet you before the beer tasting! I live on the opposite side of town, and hubs has to work so I have to be home to feed the dogs before 8pm. But shopping/wandering around before hand would be great!

2010 Resolutions
1. Stretch daily. Weights 3x/ wk. Tabatas 2x/ wk. Join the local yoga studio. Use free gym at school. End goal: lose inches and BF, gain strenth and lose 2 sizes!
2. NO grains (aka stop having your low carb toast every few days Tara!!!)
3. Sleep enough!!!
4. At the end of the day list 5 good things that happened and make a plan to improve anything negative.
5. Let other people's negativity affect them, not you.
6. Apply for jobs, abroad volunteering and visit friends in other places while I still have time.
7. Kick school's A55!!! This is the home stretch so show them what youre made of.

Love number 5!
Posted 2 months ago # -
Love 5 and 9 too. Eating ALL leftovers definitely helps me, and if I know we won't finish something in time I've been freezing it.
Posted 2 months ago # -
Ditto! I'm totally on board with 5 and 9. :)

I think #5 might be the hardest to do. Its so easy to get the blahs and get into a foul mood! Sometimes its as simple as thinking about the smallest positive thing.
Here is what I posted on the website:
"Last night I made this: http://www.thekitchn.com/thekitchn/recipe-review/the-ultimate-bird-jamies-chicken-with-lemon-and-milk-080388Free range, organic chicken with meyer lemons, my CSA garlic, and dried sage from the garden. SO GOOD!!! I used raw milk so the curds turned into these lovely globs of like, lemony paneer! It was awesome! I stuffed it with lemons and sage and garlic, roasted it breast side down and kept the lid on the whole time. The whole thing was moist and perfect. I served it w/ mashed parsnips and broccoli. I put the roasted garlic and roasted lemons on the side and it was so good!
You guys HAVE to give this recipe a try!!!"
I also ate the gizzards and neck, but I dont know if they would appreciate that part! ;)

If any of you read this with any sort of regularity, youll know I have an intestinal aversion to egg yolks. Well, Ive been curious these past few years and wanted to test this out.
I made this for brekkie (Eva's post):
http://www.marksdailyapple.com/forum/topic/quotwhite-breadquot-from-wheyLets just say the "bread" was good. BUT NO WHOLE EGGS. Still.
I am for real angry! I WANT some eggs over easy! ARG.
Thats all. Other than that I had a bunless burger fo dinner. A few fries. A couple cups of milk. A carrot.

B: smoothie: coconut milk kefir, milk, green foods protein powder, 1/2 avocado, 1T pb.
L: IF
D: Brussell sprouts in lots of lard. Chai w/ stevia. Then... raisin bran. D-oh!

MMMMMMMMMM brussel sprouts :) I roasted mine with bacon and pepper...so good :) I might make them again next week.
Posted 1 month ago # -
Brussels sprouts are the BEST. I like them roasted too. I couldn't afford fresh ones so I got a bag of frozen. Think those are roastable?
Posted 1 month ago # -
DR - I've roasted frozen sprouts before, they'e not quite so good but it certainly works :)
Posted 1 month ago # -
Hmm... should I thaw them first you think?
Posted 1 month ago # -
Yep thaw in a strainer then cut in half. My fave is rubbed with EVOO/lard/coco oil and thyme!
B: nothin'
L: guacamole w/ pita
D: Pork belly, appleNot a very good PB day.
Posted 1 month ago # -
not a bad PB day either, excepting the pita.
There are worse things in life. When I have a "bad PB day" I think about how my day would've looked on CW... all the low-fat "foods" (fat free sour cream wtf?) and cereal , whole grains, etc. ALL DAY LONG maybe with a cookie or some other treat?
And then... think about a BAD CW day! Maybe a ton of breaded fried whatevers, a huge dessert loaded with sugar, 5 bowls of cereal, etc...Kinda puts things into perspective a bit.
Posted 1 month ago # -
Haha this is true. BUT I worry about the combo of all these fats and the carbs wen I have a "bad PB day"!
Posted 1 month ago # -
Tara, if you eat cheese, I had some guacamole on slices of mozza the other day and it was SO yummy!!! The mozza slices worked really well for scooping up the guac!
Posted 1 month ago # -
I made guac tonight too, and ate it on pork rinds. It was very yumful. So there's another option too.
Tara seriously, your "slip ups" are still so much better than what the majority of "health conscious" people are putting in their mouths...
Posted 1 month ago # -
Mmmm... I could go for some good guac with my pork rinds. Great idea FNW!

Ooh that's a good idea for Super Bowl! I have a feeling we'll be going to a friend's place for the game, and I'd like to bring a few things that will be delicious for everyone, and good enough for a snob like me to eat too :P I'm also thinking bacon wrapped jalapeno poppers...the cream cheese can be my February dairy allotment :) And I can always do homemade chicken wings...man if we had cable and our TV didn't flicker in and out when there's bad weather I'd host a Super Bowl party! Not so good when your screen goes black during an important play though...

bacon wrapped jalapeno poppers are AWESOME and always a hit.
Hot wings are good and primal - with homemade ranch dip.
bacon wrapped dates are also delicious and a huge hit.
And... I have a recipe I need to post (already have pics uploaded and everything) for cheese crisps - they are AWESOME.
Hannah, we don't have much in the way of TV either... we have a great television but mostly watch movies and hulu and stuff on it. But good thing about not hosting is you don't have to clean up after everyone. hehe.Posted 1 month ago # -
Snacked all day...
coconut milk kefir
milk
grapefruit
roasted ham
chicken sausage
tea
cream
little dry cereal
brussel sprouts/carrotsI was perusing the aisles today and I was looking at special K (even though I cant eat it -tummy probs- i know im strange) and the 2nd ingredients was "soy grits"!!! LOL whats a soy grit? Not too many carbs though, eh.
http://www.specialk.com/Products/GetProductNutritionInfo/2351Then I looked at my fave childhood sugary cereal, Golden Crisp and it has like 4 types of sugar in it!!! I read that its over 50% sugar by weight! Yikes! I always liked blueberry morning the best when I was a kiddo.
Posted 1 month ago # -
hahah tara... soy grits?? cereal is crazy!
Posted 1 month ago # -
Seriously soy grits? wtf is that??? And so sad for Golden Crisp, with 50% sugar by weight they only missed the "Smart Choice" label by *this* much.
Wow I'm on a sarcastic tear lately...I'm in a mood!
