It's all in good fun, especially when you count the competition a friend- then you can celebrate if they win too. :)

Thanks DR! :)

Ohh... thanks for the heads up. lol!

No prob. haha.
I WON!!!! Thanks to everyone who voted for me. I am SO EXCITED about my vibrams... I asked for the Sprints, the light blue ones with light green between the toes. I hope they fit... my feet measured exactly 10 inches long, but size 42 is for 10 1/8 inch. I decided that'd be better than going for the next size down which was 9 7/8 inches.

YAY CONGRATULATIONS!!! Now we just have to get Diana to win the story contest! What size are your regular shoes? My hubby has 42's is why I'm asking. I wear 7-7.5 usually, and my sprints and classics are both size 38. I'm sure you'll be able to send them back if they don't fit though (since you probably don't have anywhere to try them on in Mississippi anyway, huh?). I'm so happy for you! Pretty soon you won't want to wear any other shoes ever...

I'm curious... those socks that you can get to wear with them... do you have to order your Vibrams a tad bigger in order to wear the socks inside them?
I bet it's just like Christmas, anxiously awaiting their arrival. :)

OMG, I just checked ebay and look at THIS!
They won't fit me. My feet are exactly 10 inches too.

hannahc, I usually wear an 8.5-9.
DR, you don't have to get a bigger size to accommodate the socks. I read a review about that where a person tried on all the different vibrams with and without socks and they said that the socks aren't thick enough to affect the sizing. Good stuff.
And YES it's like waiting for Christmas. haha.

Ya they had those Surges in 38's, I thought about it, but decided not to buy them. Now the 38's are gone and I wish I had bought them! Non-buyers remorse.

Realized I haven't really updated on my goals lately:
1. Fruit: been doing well with this, but at a party where the only primal stuff was fruit and a couple other things, I did have some non-berry fruit... in any case, I think I've broken my tons-of-fruit-all-the-time habit, which was the point of this goal.
2. Moving slowly 8 hr/month: Husband and I went on a 60 minute walk the other day - with a picnic in the middle - and a 30 minute walk another day... (8 hours 55 minutes total) And I achieved my monthly goal!
3. Sprint 1/week: Not yet this week... I think part of it is that I'm self-conscious about it. I need a place to do this where no one will see me. haha.
4. LHT workout 3/week: Doing pretty well on these! I think the husband and I have gotten into a pretty good routine for this.
5. No post-dinner snacks: Also broke this habit. I'm no longer mindlessly snacking on "whatever" after dinners... though sometimes I'll have a dessert (berries or something) or a snack post-dinner if we ate early. But the point of the goal was breaking a habit, like the fruit. And that goal has been achieved!
6. Bedtime 10:30pm: I've been doing better with this though not 100%... I need to develop a bedtime routine and kick the technology addiction (maybe have a set time when the computer has to be turned off or something like that... not sure how to enforce this for myself)
7. Fish oil: Still forgetting... I need to make that note for the fridge.
All in all, I'll say it's been an awesomely successful challenge month for me. Before, I was basically only primal in my way of eating, and now I'm incorporating the other laws into my lifestyle. It's pretty exciting!
I really hope I'll have some amazing and obvious physical "results" by Christmas... if so, I'll buy the PB for my family members. If not, I will feel weird about being an evangelist for the primal blueprint ... like they shouldn't believe me until I am ripped or something (even though I know this is the way to go). The motivation to convince my family will keep me working hard though!

Also, I think I'm going to buy myself a present soon... a bike!
Wal-Mart has a single-speed "cruiser" bike that looks pretty good... and I was thinking single-speed would be more grok-like for some reason.
I want it for transportation really... going to the commissary to get a couple things, biking to the pool, whatever... just getting around the base. If we live on base in California (we want to) it would be great then too... much bigger base, too.Posted 6 months ago # -
You are doing so well, I can't believe this month is almost over already! The hubs and I just got bikes on Tuesday of this week, sweet vintage road bikes (either late 70's or early 80's, judging by the brown leather seats). We went for a ride twice this week, it was a nice thing to do together! I might set a distance limit (for most things anyway), so that if someplace is within 5 miles, for example, I'll bike instead of drive. Unless I have to buy dog food...I'm not biking with 35 pounds of kibble :) I think it's so funny how similar people's lives can be across so much space you know??

Hannah your bikes sound awesome! And yeah, it's really weird how parallel some things end up being. :)
I totally laughed at the image of you biking with a huge bag of kibble.

Guess the challenge is over, huh?
Perhaps I should go back to my old primal journal now? It's kind of been abandoned...
Posted 6 months ago # -
I know, I can't believe it's September...so crazy. Maybe the forum will look less cluttered again because a lot of people will leave the challenge journals now! Congrats on winning something, it was a successful month for you, huh?!?
Posted 6 months ago # -
Well, I have noticed that the forum has been more "readable" the last half of the challenge... I felt bad about being happy about that because it likely means some people "Dropped out"...
but I liked that it was semi-back-to-normal.
And yeah, definitely a success! haha.
