I was listening to Robb Wolf's second podcast where he was talking about nuts and how they can be inflammatory for some. So if having menstrual irregularites, acne etc instead eat more coconut oil and avocado and limit the nuts.

Katt: Good luck. I've been there twice before and I know how it is. I'll keep my fingers and toes crossed for you that going primal helps.

Katt, I'll keep my fingers crossed for you too. It's hard enouh not being able to conceive (we've been trying 2 years now), but losing a baby once you have have must be horrendous.
Healthy body, healthy mind... that's what I'm focusing on for now and take it one step at a time.

I only just saw the link, thanks PaleoMom. I have actually tried Lunaception, what amazes me is that once you simply notice the moon and put yout mind to it you can get your cycles to co-incide. But then we are lucky that we live in a village with no street lights, so it's easy to see when it's full moon.

Bumping this thread to see how everyone's getting on and because i have a question...
When I was 20 (im now 25) the docs diagnosed me with (for lack of a better name) premature ovarian failure. Or rather, i was displaying the symptoms of menopause. They couldn't work out why, they ran blood tests for other causes (they found none), and told me to go on the pill for the next 30 years or i'll get osteoporosis. The docs were so useless then, i now view them with a high degree of skepticism
Now back then i was a vegetarian (they simultaneously diagnosed me with severe b12 deficiency, but i digress) a calorie counter and a carb junkie. I'm currently working on being primal, (I'm stop starting- i get moody after about day 3 and eat sugary stuff, then have to start again). Recently, i've been thinking that the pill is making me moody, as i feel better when im off it (but this is a recent development).
I was wondering if anyone has any experience with PB regulating girly hormones? I would love love love to get off the pill, and once i get into the swing of primal, i'm going to go off it for a while to experiment (though i'm a little concerned with the osteoporosis bit)...
Any thoughts would be appreciated....

I can't comment about the osteoporosis bit (and I suggest you get more medical advice once your diet is settled), but your moodiness may be down to carb withdrawals. If you can get to a week I think you will find yourself feeling a lot better (maybe two if you are a true carb addict). I deal with alcohol addicts and they get the same thing. Shocking but true!

thanks jo- i know i've got a bit of researching to do. When i get home (australia) in a few months, i'll have to do some doctor shopping to find one willing to experiment :-)
And it seems that i'm a bit of a slow learner: i'll eat carbs (and promise i'll start over tomorrow) and feel like i've been hit by a truck the next morning. I finally made the connection that its the carbs, so now i've got a more immediate incentive to eat clean.
And yes, I would believe that i'm a recovering carb-oholic!Posted 2 hours ago # -

My period has been much easier and a couple days shorter.
One thought on the constipation (I get it too before my period) is that the body is retaining water so maybe some water that would normally end up moving things along is being retained.

curious about fibroid with all of this. My periods are crazy heavy. Then I learned I had fibroids. Had them removed once, and all was well... for a while. Developed more during my PG, and they weren't removed during my C-section as my Dr. thought it was just too much activity to add that. But... GROSS! All the time. I'll be curious to see if I get less crampy as time goes on. Which I think will only improve if the fibroids improve.. as I think my uterus is trying to "deliver them"... at least that's how it feels!

MalPaz,
I had lost my period because of severe dieting that resulted in a low body fat%. It took me over 2 years of being at an optimal weight before it came back. Be patient.Posted 36 minutes ago # -
I'm really looking forward to seeing whether eating Primally will kill some of the negative effects of my period (cramping, some pretty heavy days, etc).
Just had a Paraguard IUD put in yesterday. It's my attempt to get off of medication completely in addition to living healthier in other ways. Yay for hormone free contraception!!
