  1. It's official- my new A1c is 5.1 - I am kicking metformin to the curb.

Just to put it in perspective- It took me 2 years to get my A1c from 7 to 6 eating a vegetarian, high carb diet (with medication). It hovered around 5.8-6 for quite some time and I just couldn't understand why I couldn't get it lower with all the "healthy" eating. In just 3.5 months I have dropped it from 5.8 to 5.1. Significant.

Diabetes, you can kiss my ASS !!

oh wow that is soooooooooooo wonderful and even more proof that this does work and is the way to eat! I preach and preach to my Diabetic Mom but she says "I won't stop eating bread" so frustrating...but you can't force someone to change
but you sweets are a very awesome example! way to go!!! must be so liberating to you! oxox Darlene

Congratulations! I'm hoping that I'll get there in the next three to six months *crosses fingers and wishes HARD* - right now I'm probably hovering around a 6.1, which is higher than I'd like but better than the 7.1 I started at.

That's awesome DCKMB! Yeah, I'd love to know your Doctor's reaction, especially to the diet.

  16. My doctor knows that I "experiment" on myself and she is beside herself with amazement and a certain degree of disbelief. But the numbers don't lie. So the next experiment is to see if the A1c starts creeping back up since the metformin has been discontinued. If it creeps back up with the primal eating, then I will know that it is really and truly a genetic problem because I'm not fat and I exercise a decent amount. I'm a little scared about it really.

There's something about this eating the way your genes evolved. Congrats DCCMB, way to fight the good fight.
