Anybody heard or looked in to these?
Not sure if they would fit the Primal lifestyle.

I raised this same question a while back: http://www.marksdailyapple.com/forum/topic/miracle-noodles
I'd say, if it was a MUST, there's nothing wrong with using them.

We covered this two weeks ago. Look up the real name, I sure can't remember what it is, it's in wikipedia. Of course.
It's all polysaccharides, like most gums, no starch.

So are these a Yay or a Nay?

I wouldn't eat them on a regular basis, but I guess they would be a better treat than regular noodles.
I like slicing large portobello mushrooms in to strips and cooking in butter or bacon grease. They make a delicious "noodle" and go with almost any pasta sauce.

I've not read a nutritional label on this stuff, but being a polysaccharide, it's probably lots of fiber.
I think lem's advice is sound.

If you want a noodle substitute, try these kelp noodles: http://www.kelpnoodles.com/products_seatangle_noodles.html They are delicious and completely primal. All they are is a sea vegetable. You don't even have to cook them!

I've tried the kelp noodles. I'm going to call it an acquired taste. The flavor is unusual, but the texture was what put me off. Any ideas?

@MacGlashan - I agree the texture is weird - but that's what's so cool about them, IMO :)

did you cook the sea tangle noodles? we put them in chicken & veggies soup for a fairly realistic "chicken noodle soup". also great in stir-fries. my kiddos love them. but my kids also love "cabbage noodles" so perhaps we're not a good example. lol

Thanks for the replies.
While these will not be a staple of my diet, they can be an occasional indulgence, along with some hearty sauce and some good fatty meatballs.

I ordered and tried the miracle noodles... they were okay but nothing to rave about. I think they were an okay indulgence once in a while... but i haven't reordered because it's just okay... not great.

I used a spaghetti squash the other night. It was a good enough substitute for me.
Regular noodles taste/feel disgusting in my mouth now.

I use kelp noodles too...they definetly fair a LOT better when you cook them. Raw they are....interesting.
I've got a big spaghetti squash on my counter now just waiting to be cooked!

Spaghetti squash is great but there are too many carbs in a cup!

& it's expensive, at least around me! In NE Ohio a squash was 2.99 a lb & they were all nearly 10 pounds...

Mushrooms are my fave noodle replacement. Either large diced, or the big portobellos sliced long to make noodles. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm!

Never been that fond of noodles anyways...would rather prefer to have a slice or two of thin crusted cheese pizza as an occasional treat.

I just made some "linguini" out of cabbage the other night. SO good.

It's a common food in Asia, and it's called Shirataki noodles in Japan at least. I've tried them, not the best, they really have no flavor and it has a weird consistency. Personally if I'm going to have noodles I'd go for Soba.
