Seeing the link in today's "link love" post, I got thinking. I can actually juggle and I like to juggle, so maybe I can use this activity as a work out. But, I need some suggestions for what to use for heavy balls and how much should they weigh? Any thoughts?

It is a ratio of weight vs. time. I suggest this as a cardio so keep the weight within the "protect your toe zone" and go for time. I'm thinking the 10 to 15 minute duration.

I've seen jugglers on TV juggle bowling balls. Unless you're really good, I don't recommend that.

Some ideas - fill some socks with something (do you have any leftover beans/rice/flour that you haven't purged from your pantry yet??) or maybe sand. That would let you adjust the weight as you practice.

Canned food might be the right weight, but would probably hurt if you dropped it.

For anyone who wants to try just starting out, my kids' school taught juggling using scarves - squares of a very light, diaphonous (sp?) fabric. They float down instead of fall down, so it gives you more time to figure out what movements you need to perform in order to get it.

I tried it just now. I used 2 2# ankle weights rolled up and a 5# medicine ball. After about 5 min, I could feel it. A little heavier might get it done faster. I wouldn't call it a full body WO unless you drop them a lot. Maybe standing balanced on a stack of chairs would add to the full body-ness. :)

I found 2 5# angle weights, that got the job done!

  9. There are videos on the YouTubes of people juggling kettlebells.

That's something I'd love to be able to do.
