I need some help. I am going on a charity trip to an Indian Reservation in North Dakota. I will be working long hours with few breaks and just found out all the food will be vegitarian. I am concerned about my ability to stay primal.
Any tips on bars or other pack able foods to take, to supplement my week as a vegitarian? (aside from nuts)

  3. Boiled eggs. I use them when I'm pulling extreme shifts at work. Super quick to make too.

    Ditto on the powerballs.

Seems appropriate. You could also take those boiled eggs and make them into Scotch Eggs.

When I got to our favorite hot springs resort, which is all vegetarian, I bring along some beef jerky and nuts. Because most people there are vegetarian, I tend to gnaw on it in my cabin.

They often have hard boiled eggs out in the buffet, so I always stock up on those.

    What are powerballs?
I have to confess my hatrid of eggs. I have tried a number of times to enjoy the egg and I really don't. Very sad, because they are such a good food.
Thanks for all the ideas. :)

you can make your own jerky. son of grok has a recipe and there are many others if you google them. just adjust the marinades to be primal. you can do it in your oven. and for a change, you can do some out of salmon too.

ditto on the lara bars. i love the key lime pie.

I have never had a lara bar (they sound good) but they seem pretty high carb. The recipe above is 47(F)/5(P)/48(C) by my count. So I tried a makeover:

    1/8 cup prunes
    1.5 T butter
    1/3 cup walnuts
    1/8 cup dried cranberries
1/8 cup dry milk (maybe coconut flour would be better)

I just ground it all up in the food processor. Then I kinda rolled them into 3 balls. They were kinda soft like playdough, we'll see what happens after a few hours in the fridge. They are much lower carbs
69(F)/7(P)/25(C). They tasted good (maybe a little "cheesey" with the milk and butter I would do coconut oil and flour next time)

I have something similar to Lara bars before.

Almond meal, prunes, chopped walnuts, cacao and dessicated coconut. Rolled into balls and coated in coconut.

    @e_e

Powerballs are a bit similar to Tarlach's suggestion above. Chopped nuts with buter and/or coconut oil formed to balls, rolled in coconut flakes.

I've posted the "how-to" in a thread "powerballs for dummies"

I always keep a stash in my fridge for snack or dessert. These are my only candy.
