    fish soup

Kept carbs low/fat high! Though I was craving stuff all day! Really wanted nuts and chocolate. Had a 1/4 cup of nuts, but said NO to anything else.

Trying to decide if I should carnivore or fast til dinner today??
Just finished my workout, and will be out with the dog at lunch time. Another beaufiful day in New England!

Sassa: how was your seafood soup? Great minds think alike!!

It is finally thursday! This has been a very long week for me.

    WED:
wo: weights 40 min/2 mile walk
    eats:
    2c coffee/1 stevia/2 t heavy cream
    8oz raw milk
    pp
    1 c spinach
    1T coco oil

Planned on fasting til dinner, but I was starving!
    m2:
    4oz buffalo
    1T coco oil
    8 grape tomatos
    1/4 c pecans

    m3:
    shrimp cakes
    grilled bell pepper
    1T coco oil

    25g carb/90g p/108g f

Today I fasted breakfast....almost lunchtime and I think bacon and eggs will satisfy me till dinner.
Also, as I inputted yesterdays meals here, TOO MUCH DAIRY!!! Need to watch it. I actually added the heavy cream so I could get in a bit more fat. I have been trying to lay off the nuts, but I don't want to supplement with too much dairy.

  5. Hi Amy! I was down-and-out with a nasty flu. Thought I was immune now that I 'never' get sick, but alas, two boughts of the crud in two weeks! I guess I need more sleep :-(

    How was the carnivore day?

Try to ramp up the fats & meat but limit the veggies and nuts and you won't be so hungry or have cravings. I see a trend in your journal that looks just like what I experience.

More veggies, more nuts, more fruits = more hunger & more carb cravings. Uggh!

I'm still trying to get my appetite back. All I've eaten the past 3 days are 3 pieces of primal pizza, a couple bites of pemmican, & 1 protein spinach coconut oil shake. Not enough food or nutrition, but being sick is the pits!

    Happy Thursday!

Sass: hope you are on the mend! 2 weeks with a cold is no fun. Try to rest up this weekend, and be back full force next week. Healing vibes your way!!

So I had another great meal. I tried JoyfulAbodes Coconut lime chicken soup: it was very flavorful!!!

Its 1pm here, and I have fasted from last night. Not super hungry, but may have a little something to get me to dinner.

    2c coffee/1 stevia
    6pc bacon
    2 eggs
    1/4c spinach
    2T heavy cream
eggs cooked in bacon grease: yum!

    m2: 1/4c pecans

    m3:
    coconut lime chicken soup
    1-leftover shrimp cake

    wo:

    Busy, busy day!!!

5oz sirlion steak-cooked in bacon fat
    m3:

I went to bed with a splitting headache though.....woke up with it too. Was going to fast, but thought I should eat something to see if the headache would go away. Carbs were at 2g for the day, and fat at 80%.
So I started my morning off with eggs and meat, and will see how the rest of the day goes. I am off for a walk.....

    Posted 5 months ago #
  13. Good luck! Sometimes a fat fast/ carnivore day will result in a headache. When your body dumps fat, toxins get dumped right along with it.

Try to eat 'blood-cleansers' like hot spices (cayenne pepper) and cinnamon. These types of things 'whisk' these released toxins off to the appropriate 'disposal' areas so that they are not being redistributed into your blood stream, thus causing you with a headache.

Lots of water and hang in there! ;-)

Sassa: you are so helpful! BIG THANKS!!:)

Tomorrow will be 1 full month of being primal (with maybe a few minor slip ups). It was a learning experience for sure, and have decided I am going to stick with this for sure!!
I will take measurements and weigh myself tomorrow morning to see. I feel lighter and have lost my belly bloat, so I am excited to see what the measurements say.

Headache yesterday finally lifted at around 2pm. I had upped my water, and took a power nap.
Had a great lifting workout this morning, and me and the hubby are going to restart working out together next week. We will be adding some p90X and misc stuff in the mix. I really enjoy working out with him---I always push myself a bit harder!

Off to make some bacon and eggs! YUM!!!

    ???? Sassa:
do you always keep your carbs low. My carbs on average lately have been less than 30g. Thats okay right?
Also, I feel like my breath is yuck....any remedies?? Does that mean I am in ketosis. I also have smelly pee.

    A

    Posted 5 months ago #
  16. Sounds like Ketosis to me!

I kind of cycle my carbs. Weekends may be more like 60 - 150g/ day (+ my alcohol vice, maybe more Yikes!), but I try to stay below 50g/ day on the weekdays, hoping for below 30g for mostly carnivore days.

Mark talks about "Caveman Breath" here:
    http://www.marksdailyapple.com/natural-cures-bad-breath/

You can also order Ketostix that monitor the amount of Ketones coming from your urine, but I don't really do that. If I am trying to lose weight, I do carnivore days with lots of IF and I wake up every morning with a feeling of being 'smaller'. I can just 'feel' it. So, I don't monitor my Ketones in regards to Ketosis.

Congrats though! Sounds like your body is responding well!

    1 month primal: whooohoo!!
    weight: 140.6 (down 4.4lbs from 145.0)
body fat: scale shows no change, but the calipers show down 2%. I did it yesterday 2x and then again this mornining 3x. Same reading!!
    waist: 29 (down 1")
belly pooch: 35" (down 2.5" THIS EXCITES ME!!)
    hips: 37 (down 1")
    abductors: 37 (down 2")

I really feel like FINALLY I am in the groove and really feel so much better since going primal.(I even have ketosis breath to prove it :))
I am super excited that my belly bloat is finally deflating!! I have been suffering with that for years!!! My pants all fit more comfortable, and I have found myself more confident in my skin!! :)
No time to celebrate.....time to keep moving and groving.
Next up is uping my exercising/sprinting!!
I am going to make new 30 day goals and get moving!!

Thanks Sassa for coming by and keeping me motivated!! BIG HUGS TO YOU!!

    m1:
    3 eggs/2T cream/coffee/stevia/4 bacon

    m2:
    chicken breast/tea

I guess I ended up making it a carnivore day....

So far I have hit the dairy light, and I have had zero nuts this week. Next few days are a bit of a challenge since I have a family wake/funeral to attend. Will probably fast.....there will be limited primal food available. I may pack a baggie of nuts just in case.....it is going to be a long few days!!

    Posted 5 months ago #
  19. Sweet!

I need to get back into gear. Next week, more carnivore days, no dairy, IF and exercise (man I've been a slug!)

Congrats on your 30 day mark!!!

    Have a great weekend!

I have been MIA for a few days but have been on track, though I find the weekends a bit harder to be 100% primal. More tempations. I did remain strong, but had some 88% dark chocolate....

I have been fasting since 7pm last night, and am going to have a primal stuffed pepper in a bit. Feeling good, and ready to start a new weeks.

    Goals:
    1. IF or carnivore 3x this week.
    2. Water!! been drinking less......
    3. LIFT heavy 3x, walk the dog daily, and sprint 1x this week.
    4. Stay positive and re-read chapeter summaries of book to add other primal things into life! :)

Felt "off" all day yesterday. Hope i am not fighting something.....

    wo: 2.5 mile walk

    IF til 11am
    m1:
    2 eggs/2T heavy cream/4oz turkey/tea-in bacon grease
    m2:
    2.5 eggs/2T heavy cream/4 bacon-cooked in bacon grease

Wanted it to be a low carb day (less than 5g).
I did not get up this morning to workout. GRRR....not sure what is up! I haven't done weights all week....my body is tired. Tomorrow??

    Posted 5 months ago #
  23. I am going through a 'rough patch' also. I hope you are not getting sick!

Yesterday I didn't work out. I ate an ENTIRE jar of Almond Butter (label says 4g carbs/ serving and that there were 11 servings in the jar! YIKES!).

But, today I finally got back into working out.

Don't fret, just plug along the best you can and rest up. Don't push your body too hard.

Hi Sass! I feel better, I just have zero motivation this week with workouts!
I really need a good kick in the pants.....
Did you really eat an ENTIRE jar?? It could have been worse....at least it was a primal food! :)

    WED:
    2 mile walk

    IF 7pm-11am
    m1:
honeycrisp apple/2T macadiamian nut butter/yerbamate tea
    m2:
    chicken curry/1/2c cauliflower rice

i haven't had fruit in WEEKS!!! Hard to believe an apple is 22g of carbs!! WOW. Pretty eye opening how carbs can add up fast.

This morning I did a full body workout with weights. Although I was really not into it. I am hoping this will pass soon.....

    Posted 5 months ago #
  25. Yeah, and entire jar (let's not count that apple that went with it either! yeah, 22 grams! Crazy isn't it??).

We're all struggling with carb cravings and workout 'depression'. Turning of the season?

    At least you did it!

I strained my neck by simple sneezing today, so guess who will not be doing her planned weights session today?? :-( Aggggh!

See, even if you are not into it, at least you have a strong, healthy body that is capable of exercising. (See, it's all about perspective. It puts our negative thoughts upside down and makes us grateful for what we have ;-)

Good job with the workout girl!

    Sassy:
I have to say I am glad it is not just me. I have been able to control the food end, but the workouts have been pathetic this week. BIG hugs to you. Lets plan on having a STRONG week next week.

    Thurs check in
    wo: full body weights-20min/2mile walk
    EATS:
    IF 6pm-1pm
    m1:
    2 eggs in bacon fat/2T heavy cream/3oz ground turkey/2c coffee/1stevia
    m2:
    2T mac nut butter
    m3:
    cod/8asparagus sauteed in butter

Kept the carbs low and was able to enjoy some veggies: how nice.

Slept in this morning. What is going on? Just didn't want to workout this morning......Back on the workout train next week.
Though I am getting a new boiler next week, and my workout room will be taken over by contractors for a few days.....UGGGHHH!!! I will think of something!

I am going out with my girlfriends tonight for dinner. I am planning on having a margarita, but will control myself in other area.
I think this weekend will be part of the 80/20 rule, since I am going out with my husband for my birthday dinner Sat night. I will do seafood, but may have dessert...... :)
Okay, okay, next week sounds like a HARDCORE week of carnivore, and maybe even a 20+ hr fast.
    Back to ketosis!!

    Posted 5 months ago #
  27. Happy Birthday!!!

Enjoy your weekend! Go Primal when you can, but when you are out celebrating, have some yummy dessert and margaritas!

I hear ya on the sleeping in factor. I couldn't sleep much last night because of my neck.

I agree, next week, hardcore carnivore & more IF (and working out again too!).

    Have a great weekend!

(I may be a hermit so as to keep away from Alcohol. No Alcohol 'till Christmas doesn't sound lofty, until I'm out with friends and they are all having fun!)

wo: NONE: not even a walk....
    fri:
    IF 6pm Thurs -6pm Friday
    m1:
    margarita
    chicken/peppers/onions

i feel very dehydrated. I am not a drinker...I will on occasion have a margarita or 2. It has been a while, and it was rather yummy, though I could really taste the sweetness more since going primal.
Sassy: Here is to a better week ahead!!!

I am going to come up with some goals for the upcoming week, and i am going to be super strict.

    Weekend is over: Thank goodness!
Had a non-primal meal and paid for it all day yesterday. Major stomach ache. I learned my lesson.

    Goals for this week.
    1. More lifting HEAVY. This may be difficult due to construction going on in the house/workout area.
    2. Limit carbs to under 25/30 per day. Have at least one carnivore day---maybe two.
    3. Walk daily and walk off temptations.
    4. Re-read summaries in PB so they become second nature.

    Posted 5 months ago #
  30. Welcome back!

I had 3 beers because I was so stiff and in pain due to throwing my back out from a sneeze. :-(

Oh well. I call it 'medication' :-)

No workout for me this morning either.

My lovely days of 'celebrating my womanhood' are here, so let's see how I fare with staying away from chocolate! ;-)

    Love your goals!

    Have a great week!
