Cooking Large Quantities of Bacon
Hello all, I cook a lot of bacon for my family. I generally cook 40 lbs of bacon at a time (it freezes and heats up nicely) to save future preparation time. I have three burners on my stove and use skillets to cook this large amount of bacon. It generally takes about 6 hours to cook all this bacon - sounds crazy but we have bacon for a long time. I wanted to inquire if anyone has any suggestions how to cook such a large quantity in faster period of time. It seems like the current process would be faster than using an oven or even a griddle. I would appreciate your suggestions. Best regards.
I would suggest using the oven. Place the bacon on a single layer and bake at 400°F for 15 minutes. The time will vary depending on the thickness of the bacon. I would also recommend using non stick foil to make the clean up easier.
