Where do you buy your Kerrygold?

    Shop Now
I live in the Huntington Beach-Orange County area. I usually just get mine at the whole foods down the street but I recently saw someone post that they were also at Costco. No membership though. Looking for the cheapest place if possible!

David, they only carry the salted Kerrygold at Costco. My friend lives in Dublin. We were comparing labels and the salted Kerrygold here is twice as salty. Trader Joes has the best price that I have seen. It was $2.99 for 8 ounces. Now it's $3.19.

Our Kroger store sells it, but it is almost $5.00 for 8 oz.

I have started buying 16oz of grass fed whipping cream and making my own butter. That way I can salt to taste, or no salt at all. It gives me 8 oz of butter and 8 oz of butter milk which is yummy too. The whipping cream is only $2.00.

It varies. Every month or so the 8 oz tub goes on sale for about $3.50 at my local Publix. Trader Joes always has a decent price, but they only sell the 8 oz bricks by me, not the tub. On rare occasion my Whole Foods will have it on sale too, but their regular price is the worst. Whole Foods even sells a "Low Fat" version of Kerry Gold, and get this- they charge double the price! Take out the most expensive ingredient and then charge twice as much- only in America.

Kerry Gold Unsalted is a cultured butter, so the difference is more than just the amount of salt added.

You need to look at all your local options. Costco is the cheapest where I am for salted KG. Whole Foods is cheaper than Trader Joe's for unsalted. The regular grocery stores are a lot more expensive here.

Kerrygold here has gone up. Trader Joe's and Whole foods used to sell it for 2.99 for an 8oz brick. My Sam's Club sells a 17oz tub for $6.98. I melt it to make ghee, so saltiness doesn't matter to me.

    Making butter -

    Need -
whipping cream, glass jar with a lid that would fit twice the whipping cream you put in it, bowl.

Let cream sit out 12 hours.
Put cream in the jar with the lid.
Shake the jar until the butter separates into a clump from the butter milk. Takes about 3-4 minutes.
    Pour off the buttermilk.
Leave the butter in the jar and fill with cool water to rinse the butter.
    Pour off the water
Butter is done. Can add salt if wanted.

The buttermilk is actually pretty good. I usually give it to my animals.
