I think my Dad had pertussis about 15 years ago. He coughed so hard he cracked a rib. My Mom kept arguing with me that he had a cold with post-nasal drip, making him cough and not pertussis. Post-nasal drip doesn't make you cough so hard that you crack a rib, though. It lasted for about 6 weeks. My understanding is that a mild cold usually comes first and the coughing starts after that.

I did get my booster in Jan. as we know a lot of people who don't vaccinate & that keeps pertussis going around.

Garlic will help clean out your lungs (it's a lung tonic) and it is antibacterial but shouldn't cause such long-term effects.
