    Feeling ill...

    Suggestions on what to eat, drink, and/or do when feeling a head cold and body aches?

    What are your thoughts on saunas when ill?

    Looking forward to some speedy recovery suggestions.

    It is just occurring to me that the old folk remedy of chicken soup may have more to do with bone broth than chicken.

    I snack on a jar of pickled banana peppers or jalapeno. The sodium + vitC seem to help.

    Lots of: fresh meat, seafood, eggs, organs, tubers, starch fruits, vegetables, meat fat, dairy fat, oil fruits
    Some: cured meat, dairy protein, sweet fruits, rice, pulses, tree nuts, oil seeds
    Minimal: soy, refined proteins, sugar, liquid carbohydrate, grains, refined oils, peanuts

    I don't really try to shorten the duration of colds only because I have this old fashioned idea that if you conquer the whole cold by letting it run its course, you strengthen your immune system. But I often think completely bass-ackwards on things.

    I like broth with a little lemon juice and some black or cayenne pepper in it. Lots of water.

    Cod liver oil might help. On more than one occasion I felt a cold brewing so I took CLO and also ate some caviar and the cold didn't materialise. Maybe gelatin as well? And I think generally whole foods and low sugar.
