Is this a sweet potato? called "New Jersey Sweet Potato"

I bought one of these at the store today, got it home, and cooked it. the skin is a light grayish color while the inside is yellowish white. I was unsure if this is just a regular potato with a different name or if it is indeed a sweet potato.

Regular potatoes aren't pointy. This is the white sweet potato. I like these as much or more than the orange guys. I never had a purple one, but I want to.

Yup, only the orange ones to be found around here, but if nothing else they make a nice color contrast when mixed with regular potatoes. I can find purple fingerling potatoes but no purple sweet potatoes. Japanese aren't they?

Are the purple ones the Japanese or the Okinawan? I always get them confused.

No clue. All potatoes look the same to me.

We call them kumara in New zealand. We have purple, gold and white. We also have a potato called Jersey, but thats a potato, not a sweet potato/kumara. I made kumara wedges last week......... Best food EVER!!!!!!!!

We call them Japanese sweet potatoes here. The white flesh made me think it wouldn't be as good as the Garnet sweet potato I usually buy, but it was sooo good. It is sweeter with more flavor and I like the texture.
