I lost 50 lbs when I cleaned up my diet and jumped rope. It was literally the only exercise I did. It is still in regular rotation, using Tabatas.
    I got 99 problems but a pancake ain't one...

How on earth does one use a jumping rope for sprinting??
Do you jump forward? Jump fast? Hold it while running? ()
    Enlighten me!
    "Bread-Bread-Dinner
It ain't makin' me any thinner
    I eat a sandwich for break-fast
And then I have a sugar blast!
I eat toasted bread for lunch
    And enjoy my mid-day crunch!
    At dinner I eat pasta
And end my day with a sugar disasta!"

From the How am I not starving??? thread. Enjoy the read.

"Sprinting" is a generic term in PBF. It may be actual Olympic-style sprinting, but may also be any number of other conditioning exercises that require max effort with a rest in between 'sprints'.

Any tips on how to not suck at it? I just started a kickboxing class and it's the warm-up.

I know the answer is probably just do it more. The instructor told me I need to relax. I just have a hard time focusing & feel really uncoordinated while I'm moving. I can get about 10 jumps in without tripping, usually, but then I trip more a lot after the first.

honestly, just do more. make sure the rope you are using is the right length. that's a good start, and focus on turning the rope evenly every time.

Oh, OK. Thanks! Now some other things that I read on this forum suddenly make a lot more sense.

hahahaa.... yep I'd bet... your first post saw me doing all weird things...
Jumping ropes would be the cheapest and easiest solution to get a cardio work out in. I can do it in my back yard.

So it is a good idea... did you do high-heart rate periods or also for warming up and low rate exercise?

It will take me a while to get back into it again but I use to be very good at it. It's all about getting in a rhythm. Try to keep your arms as still as possible and swing it from your wrist. your hands should be located near your hips but don't keep your arms stiff to it.
And try counting between the jumps, 1 for jump, 2 rope is above your head, 3 is jump... like with music...

Its possible even to simulate sprinting when "jumping rope" - lean back a bit and lift the knees and run fast as hell instead of just jumping! Very good for intervalls...
