    Tendinitis in shoulder Mud Run this Sunday

    The last few weeks I've been having some tendinitis in my shoulder and upper arm. I've been resting it as in no lifting weights or body weight exercises but I'm still using it to lift kids etc. it's not getting much better. I was training for a 5k mud run (it will be my 6th). But I've already accepted this one will not be beating any previous times.

    Right now I just want to participate. I've been only taking Advil every now and then.

    Anyone have any special secrets? I've doubled my fish oil hoping it help reduce inflammation. ( I've been 100% primal for three years and drink bone broth regularly)

    So disappointed.

    Hey there. You could try alternating hot cold compress and massage. Are you sure it's tendinitis though and not a tight muscle pulling your shoulder forward?

    Fish oil is a good one for sure along with magnesium. Another one that works really well is R-ALA. Make sure you get the "R" form as it's the natural form vs synthetic. R-ALA is absolutely incredible for inflammation.

    Thanks, Iron Will. I can't say I'm 100% sure, but it definitely feels familiar. I used to have bad tendinitis in my other shoulder pre-primal. When I massage it, it improves a bit. I'll have to try the cold/hot on it.

    Acupuncture is super effective for this, as are certain herbs. I'm dealing with the tendonosis right now and these have been very effective for me.

    My left shoulder was MRI'd about 3 weeks ago: subacromial inflammation (bursitus/arthritis/tendonitis). A cortisone injection and acupuncture once a week (for the past 3 weeks) has helped. I start PT later today.

    If your condition persists and you plan to remain active, see a doc. Shoulders are vulnerable and seldom recover without treatment.

    I have been having some pain in one of my shoulders from lifting, and I've tried heat and it didn't help much. I took Kelly Starrett's advice and rolled around on a lacrosse ball on the shoulder joint and the pain is much reduced..... a lacrosse ball is much cheaper than a trip to the chiro or physical therapist...

    Depends on the condition. For a year, I tried rolling with the lacrosse ball, therapy balls, deep tissue sports massage and band work on a consistent basis. None of that worked to relieve subacromial inflammation/impingement of the supraspinatus.

    Had my second treatment with the PT today.

    If the op is still doing pullups as illustrated in her avatar (complete loss of scapular stability at the top of the movement) its no wonder she's experiencing shoulder issues. Either that, or she's wearing shoulder pads.
