Coconut Oil - What Type and Brand Do You Buy?

    Primal Fuel
When I first purchased coconut oil I bought a HUGE 54 oz. jar from Nutiva. But, it was not raw. I read that raw is much better so I spent a little more money and bought the Coconut Pacific Brand.

Now, I am starting to think that raw is unnecessary...

I just found EFAGold Coconut oil by Nature's Way for an outrageous price - $4.33 for 16 oz??? Does it get any cheaper???

    So, does it really matter?

What brand and type do you buy?

Awesome stuff, I use it. I've had better but for about 2x the cost so I can't really justify using any other brand than that one. Best deal I've found.

That seems like a good deal if you can get the super saver shipping. I buy the NSI brand at vitacost.com. Organic EV, 16 oz for $6.99. I buy other stuff from them every other month and they always have flat rate shipping no matter how much you order.

Tropical Traditions Gold Label. I started out with the 32-oz jars, then I moved up to the gallon pail. My last order was the 5-gallon pail, with which I will be refilling all of my 32-oz jars so I don't have to deal with a 5-gallon pail on my kitchen counter.

I get the whole foods brand organic virgin coconut oil. It costs 5.69 for a 14oz bottle which is a pretty good deal. Its mighty tasty too.

Thank you all for your replies! I have heard of tropical traditions so I am going to check it out...

Wow! I am VERY impressed with them. So many different sizes and they have just about all forms of coconut. It's too bad I forgot about them this whole time! Thanks for pointing me that way! I will calculate the costs and see what one is worth to buy

Wow! The Nutiva coconut oil from Amazon - the 1st one is almost half price by oz! I will stick to that... but I am interested in the other versions of coconut from tropical traditions

I'm not one of those people who can afford to buy organic everything, but considering that coconut oil is far and away the biggest source of calories in my diet, I figure I'd better buy the purest brand I can. Plus, it's incredibly tasty!

I buy the Spectrum stuff they sell at Whole Foods, mainly so I can keep the jars. (rubber seals )
