D-Ribose - Does it spike insulin?

    Primal Fuel
Been a while since I last posted, hope everyone is doing well.

I am currently doing really well with my diet and fasting first thing in the morning until about lunch time. I suffer from M.E so I have felt obliged to add some D-Ribose into my diet to help with my energy levels. Does anyone know if I can take this upon waking? Some sources says it doesn't spike insulin, but because it is a type of sugar - I am unsure about this.

Can someone clear this up for me? It would be great to take it as soon as I wake up, but I don't want it to lower my growth hormone by jacking up insulin (even slightly).

As far as I can see, it can trigger a low blood sugar (insulin-like effect). I would personally not ingest it upon waking. You are already at a fasting level of blood sugar and this could lower it ... I guess I would feel pretty weak but I may misunderstand something so don't take my word for it.
