    Primal What? (Syracusedoula's newbie journal)

    Shop Now
Today is day 2 for me of learning about going primal.

Personally, I'm trying it out because I still have 17 pounds left to lose from baby #4 (who's about to turn three). Between December 2009 and March 2010, I lost 20 pounds by exercising and keeping a food journal and calorie count. But I was hungry a lot and had trouble limiting the amount of food I was eating.

My weight loss has stalled and today I weigh 141.2 pounds (goal is 124-125).

Someone recommended TPB as a way to get in better shape and I'm willing to give it a try.

    Day 1 Food:

    B- 1/2 banana
    L- 6 oz. salmon w/ 1 whole apple
S- tortilla chips & salsa, baby carrots
D- salad: spinach, strawberries, pineapple, chicken

Today I went to the library and ordered The Primal Blueprint via interlibrary loan, as they didn't have the book in our county.

    Day 2 Food:

    B- baby carrots
    S- watermelon, baby carrots
L- 2 organic turkey hot dogs, 1 oz cheese, blueberries, 1/2 of a yam with butter
S- 3 tortilla chips with mashed avacado
    D- spinach, strawberries, chicken

    Hi Syracusedoula!
Hope you are enjoying going primal
I actually participate on a thread on MDC with you(if you are who I think you are lol) great to see you here! I'm pretty new at it too, only a month in, so I'm still learning. Its a really supportive community for the most part, I think you'll enjoy it.
    Calm the f**k down.

Welcome to the world of primal! The book is great, and meanwhile there is an immense amount of information on this forum and the web pages. Try the "101"-posts, and the most popular posts in the archive. Hopefully, you'll see how much sense it all makes I've also tried the classic ways of losing weight, but experienced the same problems as yourself - hunger, problems limiting the amount I eat and weight loss stalling. Now, I'm happy to say that weight loss is no longer the issue! I do however keep a food diary at the moment, but it's a temporary thing and just to get the hang on what I can eat in order not to overdo the carbs. I make a point of trying not even to look at the calories.

Anyways, tell us how you're doing, and enjoy discovering all the great, real food that comes with the PB! Good luck!

Starting day 3 and I have a little victory already.

    Monday's weight: 142.4
    Tuesday's weight: 141.2
    Today's weight: 139.8

    I haven't been under 140 pounds since before I had baby #4.

Spent Friday and today at Niagara Falls with the family. A little bit off track, but not too bad. Told hubby what I was trying and he's ok with it.

    Nuts for breakfast.
Lunch today: Went to Chipotle. Got burrito bowl with lettuce, black beans, chicken, corn and guacamole.

Did a lot of walking the past two days.

    Getting back on track tomorrow.

Those chipotle burrito bowls are good. At least they don't use GMO foods there. Definitely a step up from other fast food. I haven't had one in a while, but it is on my list of happily planned cheats!

    L- 3 oz tuna, 1/3 c. peas

Are you hungry? I'm no pro at this but you aren't eating much fat at all. I was always hungry with other eating "plans" and was so happy when I tried this and had days when I could actually skip meals. I think the secret is the amt of fat.
