I don't think he cares about the money. He's a minimalist like zuckerberg. Some people just don't care about food or eating or sex or music or socializing, and I believe his determination to "help" humanity overrides his pleasure for savoring food. It may help provide cheap nourishment, but I don't know if the repercussions of that are desirable if the population explodes due to more accessible calories. I think it might make the problem worse in many ways. It's extremely offensive to suggest preferring actual food is snobbery. That just screams zealot to me.
