If you need them THAT bad, cant you just replace the grain based carbs with veggies? I mean hell, eat as many as you want. Dont you agree??

Pasta is the deal breaker in my family. They think I've completely lost my mind.

People who say that are unfortunately ignorant. If you open a biochemistry textbook and go to the index, there will be no "essential carbohydrates" entry. Essential fatty acids and essential proteins...yes, but there is no such thing as an essential carbohydrate.

I think in most cases "needing" carbs means being used to them, enjoying them, and in some cases being downright addicted to them. (Been there, done that, have the big boy pants to prove it.) But I don't see any evidence that anyone "needs" them for good nutrition, and this forum shows how very many of us are happier and healthier without them.
