Since finding this way of life I don't have much faith in doctors. Even those who know that eating and living this way is the cure won't tell you because they just figure you won't do it.

My own experience was I changed my diet quickly and slowly changed the way I exercise to be like the Primal way. Right away the diet changes fixed a lot of problems in me. Eating processed "vegetable" fats/oils and grains can cause achy, creaky joints in people. I was one of them. All that sort of pain I was getting in my feet, hips and fingers is gone since giving that up. I've always been one outburst away from being fired but with the proper fats in my diet I am optimistic and happy.
I have a friend who did a different version of this way of eating (they went to something called food addicts in recovery anonymous which has people follow a specific diet without flour and sugar) and the same things happened to him and his wife. They no longer argue every night, he no longer passes out in a food coma on the couch every night and she lost over 100lbs.
Lately I have not been eating as much fat as usual and I see that the irritability and outbursts, the creaky bones and everything comes back. This way of eating really does change things.
As for the weight thing, I was able to get my appetite under control so that I was not hungry every two hours. This allowed me to eat less and lose significant weight. I eat a lot more now than I used to but I still have to cut my portions if I want to lose more. I just don't have to eat crappy diet food. Diet food doesn't work.
I will say that initially every new diet change I tried and some of the exercise changes I tried resulted in a period of hot flashing during the day and at night too. I started to recognize this not as a menopausal thing but as some kind of sign that my metabolism and vitality was waking up. I still wake up hot sometimes, especially after days that I sprint, but I see it as a bonus, especially if I go on a backpacking trip. I hate being cold.
