low glycemic index helpful or not?
Is using a low glycemic index or low carb index helpful in deciding which fruits and veggies to eat?
Is it helpful to look for gluten free products when choosing foods?

It can be helpful, but you always want to consider total carbs too. And always avoid gluten whenever possible. If you stick mostly to meat and leafy greens, you're good to go.
If you are avoiding grains, you should automatically be avoiding gluten.
Any food that says "Gluten Free" on the package is probably so processed you're better off not eating it.
